What happened with them? *is only loosely involved in Firefly fandom*

Um, Rayne fans are batshit insane. (Think Doctor/Rose, but if the Doctor really WAS asexual and Rose was, um, a lesbian, or something.) The Mal/Simon 'shippers write lots of "One day, Simon noticed how hot and tight Mal's ass was" fic over and over and the pairing doesn't even make sense, nor do they sell it by any stretch of the imagination. The pairings I like are never written and I got tired of writing fics no one read, etc.

And www.firefly-tvs.com just sort of sucked my soul out my eyes and patted me on the head in thanks. It was a good idea, but run by relative idiots.

Ah, yes. I never read huge amounts of Firefly fanfic, mainly because it was one of the few fandoms where I loved the canon so much I genuinely didn't like things that differentiated from it much (read: a preference for gen and canon-ships).

And good ideas from idiots are depressing.

Hahahaha, understandably. I really loved Zoe/Wash in the canon department, but I didn't believe the Mal/Inara. (At least, not that it was healthy/had long term positibilities.) But I believed that more than I believed in Mal/Simon, anyway, and much more than Jayne/River. What the hell is that, anyway?

And yeah. I tried to carry it, but I wasn't strong enough on my own. Especially when they were sort of insisting on keeping tight reins on the whole operation, despite it steadily sinking.

Can you believe it? For me DW is less wanky, hahaha.

I don't get the popularity of Rayne, either. It's a seriously WTF ship. Unless people are doing that depressing thing where they are trying to pair everyone onboard Serenity up.

The idea of DW being less wanky than anything is scary. Unless it's Harry Potter.

Yeah. Like I said, Rayne shippers are batshit. At least Doctor/Rose has like, canon proof and shit. THEY ARE AT LEAST FRIENDS. River and Jayne aren't even like HArry/Draco enemies. I can't even argue about it. It depresses me so.

Over all DW is wankier, but to me personally, FF was. Sigh.

But we have Airgasming Mal to make it all better.

It truly is the most random ship ever. The only way it could be more random would be to be one of those "characters have never met in canon" pairings.

At least the people who write "These characters never met in canon" realize they're writing cracked out shit. Rayne fans think they're canon/Joss really would have gone there. They're by and large the biggest ship in the fandom. It's FUCKING SCARY.

Anyway. I have to go face plant in my pillow now. I'll hopefully dream of Mal and not at all of Rayne. Cheers. :D

I think I am glad I avoided the majority of the fandom now (which is why I got very confused when people starting bitching about Browncoats on other fandom's forums, but that's another story...)
