Flying squid- dear god, this is a sign of Cthulhu rising from the depths of the sea, isn't it.

Also, I remember a decade or so ago there was this horror series on TV about killer giant squids attacking a sleepy East Coast town. I think they could adapt the storyline for flying ones.
