Moving On

Wow. This is just a weird thing to say, but...well, I have now officially moved out of home.

Wow.

This is just weird.

I mean, yeah, I've spent most of the past two years at boarding school and college, and have only really been home for the holidays, but it was still home, you know? I still lived on a farm out in the middle of freaking nowhere, with my parents and The Sister.

But now... well, [livejournal.com profile] lena_supercat is letting me have her room while she is away, until the start of February. And at some point, whenever we get all the organising done, [livejournal.com profile] altheas and I should have worked out our own sharehouse.

I don't live with my parents anymore. I don't live with my sister anymore. I don't live with my family anymore.

Wow.

It just...it just means everything will be different.
It means I won't have The Sister wandering in, asking to borrow my clothes.
It means I won't have to be in a car for half an hour just to see my friends.
It means I won't run into old school teachers every time I go into town.
It means seeing a movie, or going shopping is no longer a big deal.
It means I won't be dragged to all those boring dinners down in Byaduk.
It means I won't have that tiny little room, with not enough cupboard space, and all my random things over every flat surface.
It means the first time that I won't see the cats again.
It means not being able to go down to the orchard in summer and stealing all the fruit.
It means I won't live with my family any more.

Wow.

This is just so weird, I just can't get over it.

Wow! That's a big step. Good luck with the new independence.

I haven't lived properly with my parents since I was 17. (And, yes, I am old.) I still visit for weekends a few times a year, but it's not home. Although, this may have something to do with the fact that I've never actually lived in my parents' current house.

Well, I'm 19, so it's not that much older. And I was 17 when I first went away to boarding school.

When I was 17 my parents emigrated to the US and I spent half the year living with my aunt and the other half with my grandparents. When I moved to the US I lived with one of my sisters at uni. I did live with a boyfriend for a year in med school, but I don't think I was properly independent until I finished medical school and moved up North for residency. I was 25 then. So, you win. :)

Nice.

And rather complicated.

Well, I never claimed to be simple. :)

Happy moving.

On the bright side, you'll be around for Things now!
