Okay, less happy now.

And I didn't get the job. Boo. Apparently it was given to someone with more experience. Godammit I hate stupid experience. It's not my fault, I kind of need a job to get that experience. *sulks*

Back to job hunting I shall go. *sigh*

Some random stuff that is less depressing:
- Today I walked past a place offering discount "vajazzling". Truly, I sometimes need reminders that the universe really is cracktastic. WTF, Melbourne?
- I got to wear the boots I bought last week. They were all white and made me feel kind of Alex Drake. Only without heels, because I needed some flat boots.
- What starts as offensive research fail in a Christopher Pike book ends up revealing the author sockpuppeting reviews of his own books. God I love me some sock-puppet wank. I think I even used to read his books back when I was a kid. Anyone else remember Spooksville?

I think I read one of his books ... it involved a Greek goddess being incarnated and then her friend (who was another incarnated Greek goddess) killed her with ground glass in her hamburger. Are all of his books like that?

Sorry about the job. :( Better luck next time!

Erm, I never read that one. The series I read was basically "group of kids make friends in a town where ridiculous amounts of spooky stuff happens and save people from it." But he apparently also wrote a bunch of stuff about vampires.

This was all well over 10 years ago, so I may have forgotten.

Aw crap, I adore Pike to bits and this stinks.

[identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com 2010-09-30 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
It sucks when that happens, doesn't it?

It really does. I feel a bit let down. Not enough to, y'know, burn all his books or anything, but I might have to move them further down on the bookshelf. (I need a ranking system like Nanny Ogg with her family photos.)

Heh, I don't actually have any of them any more. I can't recall if they got given away years ago, or they're among the junk from the farm Dad would have sold.

And my books are in alphabetical order. Or they would be, if they fitted properly. Stupid inconsistently sized literature.

Have you been to my house before? I can't remember. It's,.. let's just say there are genres involved.

I have been to places where you have lived. Not sure if I've been to your current abode, though.

But I recall lots and lots of books.

Current abode is in Mulgrave. The lots and lots of books is almost definitely me. Last count was ~2000 and that was some years ago.

[identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
...That really is a huge amount of books.

I'm in the same boat. D:

It is a sad boat. I will just pretend he wasn't a dick when I'm reading his books, because I still love his work.

Then there's the jobs that you are too experienced for because you have a uni degree. *facepalm*

Yeah, stupid, stupid combination.

[identity profile] neadods.livejournal.com 2010-10-01 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so sorry to hear about the job.
