Lulz shippers

JournalFen: The anti-Doctor/Rose site.

For those who can't see beyond the T&C flock:

"Clearly you have not been to journalfen. They deny Rose/Doctor vehemently there, and these are the same people who made a whole community to mock Harmonians for canon denial (which is not to say I don't think some Harmonians are completely batshit, and I mock them for that, but the canon denial part is so full of irony, it's just beautiful)."

Irony, eh?

I've never seen a Ten/Rose shipper deny GitF happened.

No, wait, I have.

[identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Do we have links? Because this idea amuses me.

drive-by *lulz* classic.

I have a deep appreciation of irony. So I was highly entertained by that comment.

[identity profile] themonkeycabal.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
It completely made my evening. Which, thinking about it, might be sort of sad, and yet, my evening was still made. Thanks t&c.

...I have nothing to say. I just wanted to use this icon.

It is a lovely icon.

If I'm a Ten/Rose shipper with a JournalFen account, do I not exist?

[identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
No, you don't. I expect you to dsappear in a puff of logic any second now.

[identity profile] --kali--.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
woe. I'm going to disappear too. And in disappearing go via Hell 'cos I loved GitF. *is glad that this is only a tiny section of the T&C massive*

[identity profile] --kali--.livejournal.com 2006-07-16 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I like it hot but I don't like it that hot.

Harmonians?

[identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
The bastshit section of of Harry/Hermione shippers. (Note the "batshit section" part of that phrase, the rest of the shippers are quite reasonable)

F_W has the best icons.

[identity profile] melata-fic.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been to Journalfen. It's got sane shippers, mostly. And slightly insane Ten lovers, but hey, can't have everything.

Um. Canon denial? Not really, but I can see the point, in some cases.

[identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 12:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the Ten love comes a bit from the fact that a lot of JF - at least the parts I am in - are both A) Very Harry Potter focused, and B) Likes Teh Pretty. Tennant qualifies for both. I've got more people into Doctor Who using Tennant icons (or Jack references) than any other way.

Also, I think this girl is equating "not liking the show having a canon ship" as "being an anti-shipper". Or possibly the slight anti-Rose bias I've seen over at JF comms.

[identity profile] melata-fic.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee. I keep forgetting about Crouch, so that's probably why. Gateway love.

Eek, in that case I'd probably be seen as a rabid anti-shipper. :(

[identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Aye. [livejournal.com profile] tennant_love had a boom after GoF was released and is now the third largest Doctor Who related LJ comm.

And some shippers can be remarkably... black and white. "If you aren't with us, you are against us" that sort of thing (this seems to happen in a lot of fandoms, mind)

[identity profile] melata-fic.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. That'd explain it. Only third, though?

It happens everywhere. This pairing vs the other pairings. Like the scarier forms of Harry/Hermione fans.

[identity profile] melata-fic.livejournal.com 2006-07-15 10:25 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, yes.

(No wonder T&C is such a hit-and-miss place, actually.)

[identity profile] magic-lilybean.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd forgotten about it till Love and Monsters, in which Shirley whatsit (Moaning Myrtle) jogged my memory.

A week later my stepdaughter had out Goblet of Fire wanting to fast forward to all the Tennanty bits. Then she watched the entirety of the credits just waiting for his name. She's such a little fangirl. **Pats head** At least she's got an excuse - she's only nine.

[identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, your stepdaughter sounds adorable.

[identity profile] magic-lilybean.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
*grins* She is.

Meanwhile, my biodaughter (3) just wants to watch The Christmas Invasion over and over again. She likes the killer tree.

[identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com 2006-07-15 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Indoctrinating them young? I approve.

[identity profile] melata-fic.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee. Yes, she's in it, too. Almost makes me want to ship them.

Aw, so cute. My eight year old brother's a bit like that. Not so much with the credits, but he was asking about Crouch in the movie theatre in the loud ways kids have: "Is that the Doctor?"

[identity profile] magic-lilybean.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It's only a matter of time before the girl starts writing fanfic. For reals. She already writes all the time, and she's starting to tip into the almost-scary level of fancrush where she wakes up in the morning and says, "I had a dream about the Doctor again last night. He was trying to mow fake grass."

I love Shirley Henderson (finally caved and looked it up). I was so shocked when I found out her age. She's got a baby face like me, I suppose. Plus that voice. I actually kind of hate Moaning Myrtle, though I supposed you're meant to. She was awesome in Intermission tho.

[identity profile] melata-fic.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
So adorable. Fanfic is the logical next step. :)

How old is she? 40s or so (considering Bridget Jones)? The voice makes her sound utterly childish, and she also makes herself look small.

I like Moaning Myrtle at the same time as disliking her.

[identity profile] magic-lilybean.livejournal.com 2006-07-15 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
She turned 40 last fall, yeah.

[identity profile] magic-lilybean.livejournal.com 2006-07-16 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, and I keep forgetting to come back in here and say - there are shippers at JF?

**has never left the wank communities**

[identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com 2006-07-16 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
I think that was this girl's problem - wandered over to JF, found the wank comms, because they are the main place people go, saw lots of people mocking the shippers (as they do to pretty much every ship), and decided it meant JF was anti-Doctor/Rose.
