Flist: For all your shopping needs

So... anyone know what I should get my family for Christmas?

Reference books.

I am now imagining their faces upon opening them.

Somehow I don't think they'd appreciate that quite as much as you would.

Gift coupon for their favourite store.

That might work for The Sister, but the Parental Units... not so much.

Stuff that is self-serving (ie. a book or DVD you want so then later you can borrow it off them).

That generally works better when one doesn't live more than 4 hours away from most of their family.

Bit of a one track mind there, sweetie.

Though the mind boggles at how Teh Family would react to opening presents to find that.

Well, yeah.

It's having to spend the rest of the day with them which would be less fun.

You just want to watch this, don't you?

I AM ON TO YOUR FIENDISH PLOT!

[identity profile] neadods.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
My father has steadfastly refused to say what he wants, so I'm going to ask tonight which charity he wants me to donate to in his name.

[identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Is it wrong that my first thought was that this was a cunning plan to get him to tell you what gift to get, as obviously people would rather want a gift than a charitable donation?

Man, I really am lacking in faith in humanity these days.

I'm happy either way. I'm afraid I'm the commercial one, and was not enthusiastic when my parents donated to a very valuable charity in my name, although I hope I'm not as bad as that these days. It's been a year of realigning priorities.

I think I'm just in a very cynical mood right now. That, or my brain is defaulting to how to manipulate people, which is probably something that should be bothering me..

It'd probably bother me more if I wasn't feeling so grumpy.

A hand-bound leather-covered collector's edition version of this fic.

Yeah, I basically just wanted to link to that fic. It's brain-breakingly delicious!

What is this, the post for listing things that make me giggle when I imagine my parents actually opening them?

But yes, there is a whole world of crack unheard of in that fic. Which is a pity. There should be more of that sort of thing.
