Is it wrong that my first thought was that this was a cunning plan to get him to tell you what gift to get, as obviously people would rather want a gift than a charitable donation?
Man, I really am lacking in faith in humanity these days.
I'm happy either way. I'm afraid I'm the commercial one, and was not enthusiastic when my parents donated to a very valuable charity in my name, although I hope I'm not as bad as that these days. It's been a year of realigning priorities.
I think I'm just in a very cynical mood right now. That, or my brain is defaulting to how to manipulate people, which is probably something that should be bothering me..
It'd probably bother me more if I wasn't feeling so grumpy.
