drakyndra: The Music Meister demands you sing! (Batman: Santa)

'Tis the season

Is anybody reading these at the moment? I know it's going on Holiday season, and LJ has been a bit shonky as of late, but the silence has been kind of deafening.

Christmas shopping is mostly done, so I should have no problems with finishing off tomorrow, plenty of time before I head off down to Hamilton-land next Thursday evening. Hopefully the weather will make up it's mind properly, so I can work out what to pack.

And your token supply of seasonal entertainment, a rather delightful mashup of a Christmas carol and a.... not Christmas carol: Rudolf (You Don't Have To Put On That Red Light).

...Now I'm curious about what other cracky Christmas mashups are out there.

Aside from that, I shall do my Duties to Cuteness with a collection of baby animal related links:
- A baby seal decides to be the world's cutest home invader.
- A bearded dragon decides to play smartphone games (Well, it does involve getting ants...)
- Cats: Your essential yoga accessory.
- The HTTP status cats. Those would be much nicer messages to get.

I'm lurking and enjoying.

It's just it's been two weeks since I last got a comment, which makes me feel rather like I'm talking into an empty room. Metaphorically speaking.

[identity profile] author-by-night.livejournal.com 2011-12-15 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too. It seems to have been happening for a while now - once in a while I'll get a post that gets five comments, but the five subsequent posts won't see any. I'd blame the holidays and finals (which is why I've been quiet), except it's been happening since last year.

I think people on LJ just don't comment as much anymore, to be perfectly honest. Which kind of sucks. :/ (Not saying that's you, neadods, I just happen to be talking off of your comment. Sorry!)

Yeah, the finals thing always confuses me, because that should only apply to people from some countries, right? I mean, I finished up for the semester a month ago.

But I agree that there is a general comment downturn. Stuff like Twitter and Facebook gets a lot more frequent response, if much less in depth. Or long.

I'm sorry - I've been busy with finals stuff PLUS at work making up for the fact that I haven't been there every day in four months. I promise that you now have my full attention. (After this morning.) Though I have been reading.

Thing is, I can't really tell if anyone is reading unless they happen to say something - even if it's just "Oh hey, that link is cute".

A couple of times I've seen people mention a link they found from one of my posts, and it always genuinely surprised me.

LJs been so annoying lately, every second request I get Cat HTTP errored (I would prefer a cat error actually :))
Here's a teeny turtle :)

Some of the LJ problems are down to Russian politics, and thus can't be helped. It's still annoying though.

OMG tiny ickle turtle!

Teeny turtle!!!!! Oh, the cute!

I love the HTTP status cats. I wish I could get the cat instead of that creepy goat whenever LJ shows me the 500 error page.

I think that goat is designed to cause psychological trauma.

I agree that commenting seems to be down. I've posted a few times, and yeah, it's like talking to an empty room. I'm trying to see it more as talking to myself, which I do quite a lot, so that'd be ok.

I read every day, when someone posts.

I'm just wondering if the whole downturn is just temporary, and it'll all pick back up again in the new year, or it's a permanent decline in LJ-land.

[identity profile] scubagrrl.livejournal.com 2011-12-15 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope it's temporary. Hard to say- Facebook has stolen a lot of the traffic that LJ used to get.

[identity profile] lena-supercat.livejournal.com 2011-12-16 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm still reading, but I've been super busy with the paper that was due today (just submitted the final version!) so haven't had time to write replies.

[identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com 2011-12-16 12:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, at least it's all handed in, yes?

[identity profile] lena-supercat.livejournal.com 2011-12-17 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, all done :-) I can now relax for a bit until after Christmas.

I've mostly either been lurking or way behind (hence the lateness of this comment!) the last 2 months or so, but I'm around! :)

Hey, better late than never, as the cliche goes.
