drakyndra: The Music Meister demands you sing! (Spoilers)

Apparently the Potterdämmerung has started early

Oh fandom, you so stupid.

I can't even link to any posts in particular, but just sort of wave in the general directions of The HMS STFU, the Cornfield, Fandom Lounge and all over goddamn LJ. [livejournal.com profile] gloatation is always good for linking to Teh Lulz.

Why? Well, it appears that Deathly Hallows spoilers have been, well spoiled. Genuine ones, too, not like some of the dodgy past ones. Despite myself, I've even taken a look (not at the scans, but just conversation about said scans).

And, yeah, the predictable is happening.

And the weirdest bit? It's all about the ruddy shipping in the end (and, by default, who lives to the end). I haven't seen a single word about the Horcruxes, or the Harry vs Voldemort stuff. Nothing about what any of the book covers represent. All I've seen is shipping stuff. Which isn't even plot. It's like... people bitching about the icing, without even trying the cake underneath.

And my one spoilery comment on the matter: I am also honestly amazed that people are shocked that Harry is getting a happy ending. Seriously, no matter how much I love them, these are kids books. The relationship with Ginny was set-up so Harry has something to live for outside the war. Ron/Hermione was the most obvious thing in Obvioustown, and they're Harry best friends, of course they live. As for the rest... I can't believe people are bitching about an epilogue without seeing the story before it. There's this thing called context, people.

Besides, the whole point of the epilogue isn't plot based. It's to show what happens to the characters after the plot. It's showing the happily ever after, pretty much.

And just to prove I haven't forgotten Doctor Who A small metawank. Amusing, due to the anonymity of everyone involved, which confuses matters in the best way.

I have averted my eyes from the spoilery spoiler, but dude that sucks so much.

[identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 09:05 am (UTC)(link)
I'm too busy being amused to be annoyed.

And I'm only spoiled about shipping, which is fairly predictable, anyway.

Harmonians going batshit is always amusing.

Well, as long as nobody spoils me for the exciting outcome of my Dobby/McGonagall hopes I'm fine.

[identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 09:33 am (UTC)(link)
I know nothing about the prospects of Dobby/McGonagall whatsoever.

I think you can guess...

If the spoilers are real, I will be happy for one thing - Neville!

I'm just happy because it proves wrong a supposed spoiler that almost made me start crying.

I have stated my disbelief in the scans, and also that if they are real I will read the Draco Trilogy. That's how strongly I believe they are fake.

(Mind you, even if they are real, Cassie Claire has yoinked the DT off the interwebs, so I'm safe.)

[identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 09:40 am (UTC)(link)
Erm, there are ways for the DT to be found.

(Just pointing out, having heard from certain sources that the epilogue is genuine)

I tried last night. The Wayback Machine gave me DD and DS, but not DV.

(Dear gods tell me it's not true. I wrote everyone-pairs-off-and-has-kids-and-lives-happily-ever-after Ref Dwarf fics when I was fourteen, for crying out loud.)

Well, it is sort of aimed at 14 year olds.

K, have found it. Oh, crap, PDFs. I hate PDFs.

I will refute your logic by hiding my head and whimpering.

PDFs are the work of the devil. Especially when they won't load and freeze up your computer.

LULZ I PWN U!

I haven't seen a single word about the Horcruxes, or the Harry vs Voldemort stuff.

That is the thing blowing my brain about this. Since when did a background ship trump the plot? (Of course, I've also wondered how in Who fandom the companion should be less changeable than the Doctor, which is also a but... "buh?")

I seem to have fallen through a looking glass. But I'm happy that the only spoilers are ship ones, as I really want to stay unspoiled for the meat of the plot in Potter.

But I'm happy that the only spoilers are ship ones, as I really want to stay unspoiled for the meat of the plot in Potter.

I spazzed out about spoilers too, initially. And then I noticed that pretty much everything was shipping rather than plot, and sort of guiltily started peeking. To which I decided that it was all fairly predictable, was amused by the wank, and stayed away from anything that might have spoilers for the actual, you know, plot.

I'm sure I'll have more detailed posts after I've actually read the books, rather than just heard friend of a friend stuff.
