drakyndra: The Music Meister demands you sing! (British Words)

Using my l33t Ninja duelling skillz, I have stolen Teh Intarweb back from [livejournal.com profile] altheas. Well, sort of. Temporarily.

In any case, hurrah!

Other news: The DWJ book was quite good. (Though, as always, I maintain that there wasn't enough Chrestomanci. But being me, I always say that. There is never enough Chrestomanci) The Dresden Files one was also pretty good, but in a pilot episode sort of way - though the story was quite good, the hints at the back-story and greater world - as well as being able to find more out about Harry Dresden - are more what have convinced me to read on.

Also, since [livejournal.com profile] fa11ing_away borrowed them from the Rowdy, I may or may not end up reading a bunch of Sandman graphic novels this weekend.

Nothing relevant to the discussion :-) It's an abbreviation of my LJ-(and various other fora) username. I always use it to sign off.

But why sign off with it? Your username is right next to the post for everyone to read anyone. 'XWA' is just extra text that wastes peoples' time.

Because I do, because I like doing it, and because I got so used to doing it, it's now an automatism. And not everywhere (Usenet for example) is the poster so easily recognisable as on LJ. It also helps on those rare occasions that I've forgotten to log in to LJ. People have identified me in those instances simply on the signoff.

It's three letters, easily and quickly read. We've already spent more time discussing it than it would have taken you to read those letters a hundred times over.

I still object to the very first time when I saw it, said to myself "what does that mean?". That wasted time. It was quickly obvious what it meant, yes, but I still didn't like that it cost me time, and then I felt like annoying you about it.

All in all, I count this as a great success for me.

Congratulations

I apologise to [livejournal.com profile] drakyndra for highjacking her LJ for this discussion.

Do read those Sandman graphic novels, though. You won't regret it.

More she ninja'ed the credit for getting the internet from [livejournal.com profile] fa11ing_away, rather than stole the internet itself.

Apart from that, I'm all for the tennant doll hypothesis.
