You know, if our broadband was up, I'd be able to watch the new Life on Mars this evening. Alas.

Instead, I shall be reading The Historian, which I bought because it was A) cheap, and B) I once read a review of it that described as being "kind of like The Da Vinci Code, but actually good. And with more vampires."

So, that's the book of today. Yesterday's books were two of the Torchwood books, which have shown up at Minotaur now, and the seventh Dresden File book. (The sixth one was Monday's book). I must see if any of the city stores have the eighth in stock, since Minotaur was out.

Still no broadband, but at least we have the temporary dial-up thing.

Oh, and feel free to recommend more books you think I might like, I could do with more reading material, since I'm going them pretty damn quick.

So I've seen. And I don't have a flash drive or anything large enough to grab it elsewhere and then transfer it to my computer.

The Historian is indeed very good. Quite slow moving, but really good nonetheless. If you do end up liking The Historian, then you should read "The Shadow of the Wind," which is in a similar vein, by Carlos Ruiz Zafón.

The Labyrinth is another one of these books in the Da Vinci Code vein, but it wasn't too bad.

I am not a stalker...

Honestly. Just a lonely member of teh Doctor (little f, general fan) fandom. I'm not in (big F, official) "Fandoms" really, but I'm totally obsessed with Doctor Who and Firefly/Serenity and some other things that I've noticed we have in common. Invidereliana gave me your name when I asked about Who Fandom on eljay, and I also notice you know maeganbutt... teh interwebs are a small world! I'm stateside, but looking to do grad study in the Ireland or maybe the UK. Hallo!

The ending disappointed me in that book. Bah.

I love The Historian (except, possibly the ending), and I have to second the Shadow of the Wind recommendation. It's my favourite book *ever*.

Could the person who compared The Historian to The Da Vinci Code be strung up and poked with sharp things, though? Even with the caveat, it's wrong and bad to liken anything to that bbq fuel. Can you tell I don't like Dan Brown?

The only reason so many people hate The Da Vinci Code is because so many other people like it. It was a fine book. Sure it wasn't amazing, but I don't regret reading it. It was enjoyable enough.

Nah, some of us just didn't like it. Then people started going on about it, and I learned to hate.

I dislike Dan Brown's writing more than I do The Da Vinci Code, if that makes any sense. The book itself is okay, in a trashy thriller sort of way. But the more of Brown's books I read, the less I thought of his writing, mainly because the books are all the bloody same.

I haven't gotten to the ending, yet. I keep getting distracted by other books.

I can't see the title 'The Labyrinth' without thinking of David Bowie in tight, tight pants.
