Normally about now I'd have a Doctor Who episode review up. But, well, I was at [livejournal.com profile] ranorith's party last night, and though not hungover, I'm really quite tired, and thus planning an early night.

So later in the week, methinks.

(Speaking of said party, 'twas quite enjoyable. Even if I had to make my way out to Hallam for it)

But for the very short commentary on La Who, I shall just say it was entirely made of squee in my eyes, for both the episode itself, and the trailer for all the rest of the eps. Some great moments, some great lines, character stuff I loved, and absence of Rebecca moments, and a return to the insane UST and innuendo filled stuff of earlier in the series.

So I'm a happy type.

While I think of it, I'm considering the idea of having a Martha-related drabble tag at [livejournal.com profile] lifeonmartha next week, in the Absence Of An Episode. It'd get more people writing Martha, since I've seen a few people bemoaning the lack of fic, hopefully trigger some plot bunnies etcetera. What do people think of this idea?

And an idea I had:

So, how long until we get an icon with "Doctor" and "Plus One" captions, only with Martha having the Doctor caption, and the Doctor having the Plus One one?

Because that role reversal amuses me immensely.

Hee - loved the plus one bit.

I think a drabble tag is a very good idea. I haven't written anything in ages, but I'd love to get back into it, and drabbles are a great way to do that.

'Twas neat. And it hooks into my theories on Martha becoming a student Doctor, as well as student doctor.

That's the logic behing the drabble tag. Allows people who don't write much to do a little something, get people used to writing the character, and as I said hopefully trigger some longer plot-bunnies.

*is working on plus one icon right now*

hopefully trigger some longer plot-bunnies

Exactly. I've been waiting for those plot-bunnies, but not much has been happening in the bunny department* - though I think last night's episode might have changed that. I really liked the Doctor/Martha relationship in that one (not to mention UST :-P) - I might slowly be getting a feel how to write the two of them.

*except that the Doctor made it sound like the two of them had been shagging like bunnies the whole night - at least from Martha's Mum's POV :-)

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

On the subject of plot bunnies, we have yet another gap of time to fill: The Doctor picked up Martha after the party, some time at night. And then he landed in her flat 12 hours later - which would mean early afternoon at the latest. So, what'd they do all afternoon, before heading off to the Lazarus show in the evening?

;)

So, what'd they do all afternoon, before heading off to the Lazarus show in the evening?

You're absolutley right!

Whistles innocently *g*

Also - the Doctor's first line in the last scene (in her flat) - "something else that kind of escalated then" ... that could be referring to a number of different things, or, errr, actions ... >;-)

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

"Things escalating" is going to end up as one of those tropes for this ship, isn't it? Like Martha examining the Doctor's body, and kisses that make the genetic transfer seem like nothing.

And the two of them stuck in the booth! The Doctor saying he will "improvise" with his sonic screwdriver before dissapearing out of shot ...

... and so utterly harmless for children (and people without dirty minds - I've heard they exist).

What do you think about that drumming bit, with John Simm with gas mask tapping a tune on the desk? It looks so evil!! I love it!

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I'm utterly intrigued by it. And I'm muchly looking forward to the finale. And, you know, all the episodes up until then.

From: [identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com

Drabble tag = yes please! I was going to start one last night but wasn't sure if people would be up for it.

From: [identity profile] hacked2death.livejournal.com

I've been a bit "meh" with the Dalek two parter. So far, the episode have been good, but not brilliant. I'll say this much - the show might have it's iffy moments, but Rusty sure knows how to make a brilliant finale...

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

The Dalek episodes are easily the weakest so far this series, but I've found everything else has mostly been very good. And as far as I can tell, most of the really good stuff is still to come.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I figured it might be a good substitute for the normal episode discussion thread at [livejournal.com profile] lifeonmartha. By that time, discussion from this episode will have eased off a bit, and something new to keep people interested would be nice.

Also - Life on Mars, Human Traffic, 24 Hour Party People. NOW Doctor Who - Everything I've seen John Simm in has been magic. I hope this is going to be a reoccuring role...

But I'm away next weekend, I wants to play noooow! (Because fandom clearly must be arranged to suit me *g*)

From: [identity profile] hacked2death.livejournal.com

I did love Gridlock. New New York reminded me of Coruscant, and having Father Dougal in an episode of my favourite show is just too awesome for words... :P

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

It'll still be there when you come back. I assume - how long are you away for?

From: [identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com

I'll be back on Monday, poss. even Sunday - in the mean time I really need to write something for the cliche challenge, because it's awesome.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Well, it'll definitely still be going then, if someone starts it up on Saturday.

And yes, you get writing.

How about a drabble tree?

One person starts with a drabble and you can take one word from that to use it as a prompt for your own and so forth. You reply at the one you're taking your prompt from.

*is waiting to see a John Simm 'are you my mummy?' icon*

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

See, now I need a Martha equivalent.

Then we shall have matching icons!

From: [identity profile] chicklet73.livejournal.com

I think encouraging more Martha!fic is an excellent idea!

From: [identity profile] eido.livejournal.com

how long until we get an icon with "Doctor" and "Plus One" captions

Longer than I thought. I'd like to know where they're all hiding so as I won't have to rely on my own feeble icon skillz.
