H3 isn't part of the Australian marking system, which is generally just the whole A+, A, B+, B...deal. It's part of the Melbourne Uni system, and is thus inexplicable to anyone outside Melbourne Uni.
The marks go, from highest to lowest: H1 H2A H2B H3 P (Pass) N (A fail mark)
The percentages differ for different subjects, and so does the average mark, but I was told to think of it as H3 is credit, H2 is distinction, and H1 is high distinction.
