[livejournal.com profile] crossoverman will be pleased with this one - Mum somehow managed to get some last minute tickets to Wicked, so she and I went and saw that tonight.

Of course, since they were last minute tickets, they were way up in the circle and we couldn't exactly see things all that well (Somewhat irritating. And disappointing because, you know, shiny costumes).

But we could here things well enough, which given that it was a musical was probably just as important.

And yes, it was very good. Even the Australian Idol guys, to my mild surprise.

It was also the most femslashy thing I have ever seen. And I'm not generally a femslash person.

Oh, and it reaffirmed what I had suspected for a while - I like the musical of Wicked much more than the book.

I like the musical better than the book, too. The book sequel was not worth reading which I wish I had known before I bought it.

Definitely femslash. :) I'm not a fanfic girl, so I don't normally go for that kind of thing. But I do enjoy girl/girl suggestiveness. :) If it's well done. And Wicked is well done. I live in Los Angeles, so we have a theater running it here.

Glad you enjoyed it!

I've only read the book, and I didn't like it enough to try the sequel - I just felt it did that thing that really annoys me in fanfic, where in order to make the traditional "villain" more sympathetic, they make all the trad good guys jerks. The musical is a bit more balanced in that regard.

I was sitting their at the end of their duet at the end, and waiting for them to kiss. The hug totally seemed like censorship given the lyrics and body language.

It just opened here in Melbourne a couple of weeks back.

>>waiting for them to kiss<<

Yeah. Me, too. I've seen the show twice now and want more.

Me, too - I was there last night as well (w00t!) and I got that feeling so strongly last night. Not so much the first time I saw it, but I thought - wow - they should totally kiss one time.

Well - if you go by the original book, Glinda is a closeted lesbian... :)

I'd say it was an amazing co-incidence if I wasn't aware of how obsessed you are with this show. ;)

But yeah, even I was getting the "Kiss already!" vibes, and I was way up in the circle.

I've listened to the soundtrack numerous times, but this was my first time actually seeing it.

Huh. I read the book a while back, and I have no idea how that slipped my memory.

It states that the times she felt most alive were when she was on the run with Elphaba, trying to get to Oz - huddling with her on the same bed etc.

:)

It's there.

My slash goggles must have been in need of tuning when I read that bit.

I can't believe I missed that.
