So, it appears that as of tomorrow, Doctor Who fandom will have something new to wank itself into a frenzy over.

Which begs the question for me: Stay up until ridiculous hours in the morning to watch the crazy unfold, or sleep in and backread it all?

Personally, I'd wait until Sunday morning.

At this point it'll depend on what I am up to tomorrow. And how tired I am in the evening.

Fair enough. I'm going to be in my well-stocked wank shelter, avoiding the screaming...

Just think, as of 24 hours, there will be whole new factions of fandom developing!

Maybe the news will leak before tomorrow? I'd actually be surprised if it didn't. I mean, for all their harping on about the whole "we managed to stop all spoilers about Journey's End leaking!" thing I still knew some of what was going to happen in that episode a good few weeks before it actually aired, and this is much, much bigger in comparison.

I have a horrible feeling all hell is going to break loose; I don't think it's going to be especially pleasant. I'm probably more nervous than excited about this, because I hate it when Doctor Who fandom gets ugly, even though it's just so, so good at it.

It might, but Journey's End at least had the excuse that people actually saw the final scenes being witnessed, as well as certain others. Once you know that, a fair bit could be extrapolated, and even more when added to knowledge from earlier in the series.

Whereas this is just casting.

I'm hoping fandom maintains a modicum of sanity. But as the bitchtastic reaction to Freema being cast proves, it probably won't.

Very good point, yes. I think Catherine Tate's name was leaked before the BBC officially announced her as the season four companion, but not by much. We'll see!

To this day, some of the reaction to Freema being cast still rankles with me. I didn't understand the bitchiness and negativity then and I still don't now. For a show all about change it's amazing how some fans can be so close-minded, and I suspect we're going to get another reminder of that quite soon.

That's the beauty of living in the past - we'll get the news at midday.

I'm totally sleeping in. *checks sleeping pill supply* Yep, sleeping in. I'm too nervous about it. I've only been into the fandom since New Who, but I'm freaking out! I just have to trust in the Moff.

Since I'm on the outs with Doctor Who at the moment, I think I am waiting more for the wank than anything else.

Actually, IIRC Tate wasn't leaked - not in a widespread way, only crazy spec on the OG - but Freema was.

It is my own personal opinion that anyone who bashed Freema/Martha before they saw a single episode of her is an idiot, and their opinions can be safely discarded. It's amazing how much of the stupid that excludes.

I'm sure you won't be disappointed. :-) You know how the fandom gets.

And yet I forgot to check for a full three hours. Yes, I am made of lame.
