Slightly random: Does anyone else get slightly freaked out when they dig up horoscope descriptions and all, and find out they describe them pretty much exactly?

Because I have pretty much no faith in horoscopes and all that - they are complete rubbish, particularly the daily ones - but I just random decided to see what this Chinese horoscope had to say about me, and was weirded out by the accuracy.

Fire Tiger - 1866, 1926, 1986
This type of Tiger finds it difficult to contain his enthusiasm and boundless energy. He is always ready for action and for going from one place to another. Transient by nature, he is most concerned with the present. He is independent and unconventional, and his moves are hard to predict. The only thing one can be sure of is that when he acts, he will be dramatic and uninfluential. Fire makes him even more expressive than he already is. This Tiger never fails to impress anyone he is after or to transmit his electric vitality to any project he decides to undertake.

He seeks constantly to convert his nervous energy and inspirations into forceful action. At times, he is downright theatrical. Generous to the hilt, he will also display more leadership qualities than tigers of the other elements. To him, everything he does is worthwhile and imperative, so don't try to tell him otherwise. He is thoroughly optimistic soul and has no use for doomsday prophets.

Brilliantly commanding, imposing and open, the Fire Tiger is sensual and finds it hard ever to be impersonal about anything in his or her life.

This was grabbed from this Chinese Horoscope site.

Seriously, to the people who know me, is that scarily accurate or what?

Your icon is the cutest thing ever. *melts* As you can see, I'm hormone city. Sorry.

But that Horoscope's interesting. Optimistic and transient. I like it. :D (*is also that sign, by the looks of things*)

I don't know that much a bout you, but from what I do know, most of that seems pretty darn accurate. Horoscopes are really interesting. Personally I find it hilarious when they directly contradict what you are doing.

Your Horoscope for March 18 , 2006
Now that the weekend has started a positive aspect, making you more reliable and conscientious at school or work, has moved in. The influence of Saturn will have you thinking of duties and obligations, rather than bowling or dancing! However, there’s also a suggestion that you could do with a confidence boost today.

This particular weekend in question, I was at the State Championships for... Tenpin bowling! What a surprise. I was only thinking of how much fun I was having and had completely forgotten about all responsibility, and was in no need of a confidence boost as I was doing quite well. How's that for a contradicting horoscope ;)

It is adorable, isn't it?

The freaky horoscope thing mainly comes from the fact that though I have zero faith in predictive horoscopes, the ones that describe personality types tend to be frighteningly accurate with me. Which is odd.

Aren't they just.

Fantastic icon by the way. It just reminds me so much of a picture I saw from WWII. So sad. He seems so alone. *huggles him*

More kittens! It is so very adorable. And the captions are so perfect.

With me, it tends to be a bit give or take. :) Though often the predictive horocopes are strangely accurate in retrospect.

And the horoscope profiles are usually a bit annoyingly accurate. :D

You read enough horoscopes and eventually one of them will be accurate.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. No, not really.

Yeah, but with me, they are pretty much always accurate. It's creepy!

I think you'll find most horoscopes are pretty accurate, no matter who they were actually designed for. I remember reading an article on it... hold on...
Here's a good one for taurean tigers in specific:

"Some of your aspirations tend to be pretty unrealistic. At times you are extroverted, affable, sociable, while at other times you are introverted, wary and reserved. You have found it unwise to be too frank in revealing yourself to others. You pride yourself on being an independant thinker and do not accept others' opinions without satisfactory proof. You prefer a certain amount of change and variety, and become dissatisfied when hemmed in by restrictions and limitation. At times you have serious doubts as to whether you have made the right decisions or done the right thing. Disciplined and controlled on the outside, you tend to be worrisome and insecure on the inside.
Your sexual adjustment has presented some problems for you. While you have some personality weaknesses, you are generally able to compensate for them. You have a great deal of unused capacity which you have not turned to your advantage. You have a tendency to be critical of yourself. You have a strong need for other people to like you and for them to admire you."

OK I lied. It's not really designed for taureans or tigers. It's known as the Snyder and Shenkel "stock spiel" and I think it describes me fairly well.
The best bit of the test where it was used was the discovery that people will find it fits them to a better level the more reliable the source seems. If told it's a stock spiel they'll barely see how it links to them, if told it's astrology they'll on average see some strong links, and if told it's from a personality profile, (and make them fill in a test and such before hand), they'll give it an average of around 86% correspondance.

Cool stuff ey?
