Okay, so Doctor Who has just finished for the week, and I am off to wait for downloads to be up, which may be a while, at least I have Part Five of the Msscribe Saga to entertain me. Man, that is good crack.

Also, on the subject of good fandom crack, [livejournal.com profile] mina_de_malfois. Yeah, I know I am behind the times on that one. But for a brilliant fandom satire, you can't beat it.

*sniff*. Chapter 5 has such an unhappy ending! That's the thing - if this was fictional, we'd be reasonably assured that MsScribe would eventually get hers. Not so.

I read somewhere once that the reason that horror movies are so scary is that people don't deserve their endings. Guess what I am reminded of now.

At the risk of breaking Godwin's Law, I can't help but be reminded a little of the way Hitler was cunning enough to choose an already unpopular group to vilify and destroy when he sought to gain power, or on a more humble level the way that the would-be popular kid quickly learns that the best way to popularity is to mock and bully the geeks. From the prologue, it seems that GT was already on the outskirts when MsScribe arrived - and she drove them to destruction to acquire her ticket into the Inner Circle. Really, Part Five more than any other is where a film would end, promising a sequel - the Villain Ascendent.

I mean, I already know people liked to mock GT as a bunch of lunatics. I just never knew how it all began.

I never really got into the Draco Trilogy. The Ron-abuse started to rankle, and though I read it all I certainly never carried on with it after I got to the end of its then-WIP state. It says a lot about my love of Buffy that the funniest jokes in each chapter were still funny, despite me having seen them once before.

As one of said geeks, who sadly almost got to this point in school, I think breaking Snacky's Law would be a better analogy. Some people will do anything to break into the popular crowd, and once they have their in, it would take a lot to throw them out again.

I was the same way. But as a 15 year old Buffy fanatic, you can sort of see why it appealed to start with. But the Ron stuff was a bit... off, and I also didn't continue once it hit the WIP mark. And when someone linked me to a new chapter a year or so later, I looked at it, and was just "Bzuh..?" It was just such a cliche.
