So, according to Teh Papers, yesterday was the second hottest October day on Record. 36.5 degrees Celsius. Yep, this summer looks like it might be less than fun, bushfires and droughts and water restrictions, oh my!

Onto more fandomly events: MsScribe "apologises". Yep, the queen of sockpuppets herself speaks out against the account of her deeds (which, although she denies reading, still claims it is mostly false). As people have commented, MsScibe appears to have a slight lack of sincerity. If by slight, I mean "huge".

In more cheerful topics, the BBC Torchwood site is now live. Yep, it's not long until it starts up. (If you are out of the UK, try this link to see more of the cool stuff - thanks to [livejournal.com profile] taraliveson for that).

Conclusions: As much as I do like Jack, I think I might end up watching this show for the rest of the ensemble. Because right now, they are the ones that really interest me. Maybe it's just the "I know nothing about them" factor (which has been known to compel me to certain characters), but still...

I have decided that I shall like Ianto. Because his pissy memo on the flash site is win.

Though as others on my flist have commented, certain things on the site give me a "trying too hard to be edgy" vibe. The excessive darkness, and overwritten angsty character descriptions. And the trailers obsession with the "adultness" of sex and violence. I'm hoping that the series is a little better than it's advertising.

Not a links list, just dropping a few Links of Interest in for those who may wish to see them.

Firstly: Torchwood Trailer! Looks fucking awesome. And hopefully will spawn some good icons for me to nab.

(For those who want icons - or higher resolution copies - I'd recommending joining [livejournal.com profile] torch_wood)

And, in an entirely different fandom: Charlotte Lennox pwns the Great Mouse Detective. Faith in humanity reviving, particularly after some of the not so pleasant remarks that had showed up on the previous entry.

Oh fandom, you so crazy. *goes back to looking for good Torchwood icons*

My first rec is up at [livejournal.com profile] crack_van!

The very first Doctor Who fic I added to my Links List. God, that seems like an age ago - when all we knew about Ten was "new teeth" and I was getting into flame wars with irrational Ten-haters. Almost a year ago now. Weird.

What else has been going on in the universe? The latest from Charlotte had a cameo from a mouse with some serious ethics issues, and it looks like there will be more to come in that saga.

My Creative Writing tute was cancelled today, because the Tutor was sick. Don't know when we'll catch that one up...

Oh, and there was a guy on my tram this morning with a LiveJournal t-shirt.

ETA: Oh, and something I said on otf_w got iconised.

Also, this Friday is the Sugar Ball. Now, though the official theme is "Darkness and Light", pretty much costume-wise you can wear anything at all sci-fi or fantasy. Any ideas of something I could go as (with a quick visit to Savers or similar)?
How could I not link to this (though I am certain most have already seen)

Yes, [livejournal.com profile] charlottelennox is back with an update on the MsScribe saga! *loves on Charlotte*

In other news, the Inner Circle thing has gone and vanished, apparently in for edits. Or something.

Still, the latest from Charlotte ought to keep those interested in their fandom gossip entertained for a while especially if it turns up some amusing wank as well.
I was originally going to have this up before Doomsday, in order to have something interesting to look at before fandom went and imploded.

Um, oops?

In any case, this List is now completed, with lots and lots of links for your perusal. I'm just now... a bit late. Oh well. The next Links List was going to show up sooner or later.

So, here it is! Yay!

Past Links Lists are here for your browsing pleasure.

Harry Potter )

An extra-special bonus: MsScribe Saga related links! )

Doctor Who )

Other Fandoms )

Outside Fandom )

Cats and Kittens )

And that is, in total, more than 130 links. Note to self: Do not leave list this long again. *facepalm*

Remember The Chocolate Theory of Doctors? Well, apparently [livejournal.com profile] kerravonsen liked it so much, she went and made an icon set for it. Complete with different Doctors with different chocolate! (And explanations for her choices)

Much love. Srsly.

Also, on a more positive note after the epic [livejournal.com profile] charlottelennox fiasco is over, but is still picking up masses of comments, particularly Chapter 10 - the first bit I was actually there for, rather than just hearing second-hand, the Afterword and the f_w report on it all.

However, in a mark of effing genius, we now have a Mina de Malfois/Charlotte Lennox fanfic by [livejournal.com profile] cesario, which is an entire world of awesome all of it's own.

ETA: I finally got my PayPal account to work properly. Hopefully, the Shiny Hat will be winging it's way towards me in the not too distant future now.

ETA2: Look at the icon [livejournal.com profile] cedara made for me! *dies of sheer awesomeness*
And now we are up to Chapter 9 of the MsScribe epic.

And it has to be one of the most horrific accounts of fandom I have ever come across. Some pooor woman with cancer getting stomped on by a whole bunch of BNFs just because she asked one of them to link her fundraising website. After they had been going on about how fandom supports it's own and all that, too.

I don't think I have ever been so appalled by fandom as a whole. The things that were said...
Okay, so Doctor Who has just finished for the week, and I am off to wait for downloads to be up, which may be a while, at least I have Part Five of the Msscribe Saga to entertain me. Man, that is good crack.

Also, on the subject of good fandom crack, [livejournal.com profile] mina_de_malfois. Yeah, I know I am behind the times on that one. But for a brilliant fandom satire, you can't beat it.
I take back everything I have said about the craziness of Doctor Who fandom. There is no fandom crazy like Harry Potter crazy.

...And yet somehow I, little fandom n00b that I was, managed to remain completely oblivious to all this until about 2 years ago.
