Brief comments before I dash off again

So, a very, very quick review of Love & Monsters:

I loved everything about it except the bloody green monster. The characters, the fan in-jokes, the human Victor Kennedy, even the lack of Doctor-ness worked for me. But then the monster turned up and, quite frankly, sucked.

You can kind of tell it was made by a kid, yes?

But everything else was great, and we did get some foreshadowing liek whoa. I is interested. And the next one looks good.

It's just...If it wasn't for the monster, I would unreservedly say I loved it. But the monster means it was mostly stuff I loved, with this one bit I really seriously disliked. *sighs* So I don't know how that works out overall.

Oh, and time_and_chips was on Confidential I am told. Yes, really. Sweet fucking Lord.

ETA: I think I found the perfect song to listen to while considering this episode.

ETA2: I'm reading the reactions on the OG. Forget what I said before, I think I love this episode if only for the reaction it's getting. Bring on the backlash indeed! *dances*

Either way, I'm flailing all over the place about this (and totally paranoid about some of the, er, not-so-nice things I've been saying).

They actually read us. Well, some of us. And some of what we say. Maybe they'll get some good ideas from it? Or really really crap ones, but we can still say omg that's from online!

I'm always so thrilled to find that show-runners/writers venture into our scary little online worlds. That said, I think I'd die if anyone ever 'fessed up to reading something of mine. Egads.

(BTW, are you very well-versed in First Doctor? Or do you know anyone who is? I'm writing an Ian/Barbara story that just won't end for livii and it's going to need some serious beta and, well, there just aren't enough First Doctor fans. Where's the really old school love, I ask you.)

And I am not that familiar with the First Doctor - he's the Old School one I've seen the most of, but not enough to consider myself familiar. I'm trying to think of who I know who would be a good beta, and I just can't think of it. Perhaps ask at one of the comms?

It's got some pretty major camps set up: Those who hated it vs those who liked it and are accusing the others of not liking the fandom parody. Plus the sane ones, of course, but they aren't interesting.

But this isn't just divisive, it's warring. And I love it.

That's what's annoying me, the blanket accusations over there that the only reason someone could have for not liking the episode is that they're a sad, humourless fanboy who didn't get or like the joke. I *get* the fandom parody, I just didn't like it because I thought it was a rubbish execution of a potentially great idea...
