Freedom! Of a sort, anyway - namely, exams are over, hurrah! Which gives me a whole month before I have any classes or anything, so mucho relaxation shall be going on, methinks.

However, in order to achieve this, I had to get through the Quant Methods exam. The cursed, cursed QM exam, which I had much displeasure failing this morning. Seriously, I like Psych, I really do. I like finding out how people's minds work and the theories and all that. However, I hate the statistics behind it. Hate hate hate with the fire of a thousand burning suns.

So an exam almost entirely on the stats stuff? Not fun, not fun indeed. There's just too goddamn many formulae to remember, the formula sheet had like 5 million of them and I just sat there and mixed them up, and couldn't remember which one to use where and under what circumstances, and I'd look at the formulae and it was just like an army of greek letters attacking my eyeballs.

I am going to have nightmares about sigmas tonight, I know it.

Anyways, after those three hours of torture by variables, I got out and did some shopping to cheer myself up - ended up with a whole bunch of stuff on sale from Ishka, which was having a great big sale, so I now have some very shiny skirts and wraps and the like ($5 each, how could I resist?). And an awesome rainbow poncho.

Oh, and when I got back to the iPartment, I discovered that [livejournal.com profile] fa11ing_away had finally managed to catch up on Doctor Who. And she came to the correct conclusions about the characters and episodes all by herself, so go her.

And we must get onto planning that Great Op-Shop Adventure, yes?

Random bit of self-introspection for today: I don't need to get in touch with my inner child. I am my inner child.

Yay for holidays!

I still have one exam to go (actually 2, but since I'm going to fail the second one no matter what I do I might as well not bother. I'm not going to, either.

Have fun!

Yeah, it's just great.

The really bastard bit is that that particular subject is compulory. I have to succeed at it before I can graduate. But it requires extensive knowledge of certain computer programs as well as close familiarity with all of the math. I don't know how to work the computer progs, and although I could follow the math in the lectures, I don't think I can work it quickly enough to score high enough on the exam. Especially not if I still have to figure out how the programs work...

I'll need to devote some time this summer to figuring out those programs and studying the math. I should be able to do this, really. It's not like linear algebra is actually that *difficult* (no, really. Compared to advanced calculus, it's *easy*, just lots of work. And the computer programs should make that lighter. If I can figure out how to use it, that is.)

Then again, I found out today I scored 70% on the one other exam I was very unsure about so yay. I can talk my way out of linguistics questions...

Ah well, back to the LoM ficcing.

I think we have learnt something very valuable from this discussion:

Maths is evil.

Hmmm. Maybe.

Actually, no. Maths isn't evil. It's just innocent little numbers and formulas that don't hurt anyone just sitting there. It's what people do with it that's evil. I'll just point you here for a recent example...

Gah! I am too tired to make sense of that. I really ought to head off to bed...

You did check the comments too, did you? There's an explanation there, plus expansions on the whole concept.

Otherwise, sleep well. Math can have that effect :-)

Op-Shop sdventure is go. Possibly on tuesday, but we'll see how we go.

Hrm, if you are your inner child, doesn't that mean that it isn't 'inner' at all?

As for correct conclusions, they were conclusions that happen to be common between us, but may in actual fact be nothing what the makers of dr. who intended :p
It's up to the viewers themselves to make up their own minds, no matter what they choose to believe and no matter how silly. And granted, some ideas are.
I choose to believe that i chose the somewhat intelligent perspective however.
the cybermen episode gave me the willies!

Hurrah for Tuesday!

And inner is just a state of mind. *is very Zen*

And I shall rephrase that, then: you came to conclusions that have my official approval, and reflect well upon your subjective tastes.

And the Cyberman episode means I can never listen to "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" ever again.
