Anyone on the [livejournal.com profile] torch_wood comm would have heard it already, but I'll cut for those who are doing the non-spoiler thing.

So, the person Gwen has her affair with (Oh, poor poor Rhys. *huggles him*) will be... Owen.

Yes, that Owen.

And I just have to say... so called it. Jack/Gwen as the decoy for another ship, and we knew Gwen would have an affair, and as cool as it would have been, I doubted we'd get an affair with Tosh. And after what went down in The Ghost Machine... there's a shared experience.

But, was right on my decoy theory. And yay for me calling things correctly.

That said, after the squee of having worked things out. I have to consider it more. Namely: Owen might be a nasty twat, but he's interesting. And the affair has the potential to be very interesting - and, it won't be the Doctor vs Mickey thing Rose had going. It's the relationship she really shouldn't be having, and Owen mightn't come out of it at all well.

It has the potential for some very interesting character stuffs. In the "It's all going to go to hell" way. Not a nice ship at all, but one that has interesting dramatic potential.

Well wont that be interesting - evil rapist Owen finally gets him some. lol

It certainly won't be a hugs and puppies relationship, that's for sure.

Yeah, I heard. Makes Gwen seem like she's got a really bad taste. I bet the PTB have no idea that without that 'perfume' thing in the series opener, it wouldn't have looked that way.

From the Declassified, they seem to think that Owen is a cool guy - they have no idea how wrongly his behaviour forged his character towards 2/3rds of the viewership through his usage of the 'perfume'.

It's just that one scene, really - if it hadn't been for it, their "vaguely annoying but cool" thing would have seemed fairly accurate. And he's certainly acted well. It's just that one bit that was so misjudged. Especially what with it being on the very first episode.

And I don't think 2/3rds is quite accurate, considering the reactions to that scene over on the OG.

I haven't been following the OG on that, what's your guess on how much like/dislike regarding that scene?

Because I was looking at thread just before, we have a convenient poll about the matter that I saw:

Did you consider Owen's use of the "love potion" in Episode 1 to be date rape?
I'm female, and I considered it date rape. 16 8.74%
I'm female, and I didn't consider it date rape. 21 11.48%
I'm male, and I considered it date rape. 48 26.23%
I'm male, and I didn't consider it date rape. 98 53.55%
Voters: 183.

Not every who watched, voted, of course.

Of course.

Interesting result, though.

Oh yeah, they are interesting results. I didn't read all the thread, because I just found it hugely annoying. What with people being condescending and wanky on both sides.
