I think I picked a good time to get Teh Intarweb back. It's just right for news of fannish yayness.
So, we have S3 casting of awesomeness, and a freaking animated Doctor Who series! Complete with Anthony Stewart Head, and some shiny, shiny wall-papers. (yes, I have a new desktop)
And, there's already the amusement factor of the fanits whining about "Why didn't Rose get an animated series?" (which has already started, it seems)
Oh, yay for fandom and all your craziness.

I plan to start a raft of conspiracy theories about why Nine didn't get all the peripheral stuff Ten did, like Totally Doctor Who, Doctor Who Adventures, Battles in Time...

Of course the sane answer is that once they knew the series was successful there was a guaranteed market for this stuff, just like Totally Doctor Who can justify having a no-doubt expensive animated segment now that it's had a year to prove it's a success, but that's far too sensible.

Gah, psychically. I can spell.

If Ten/Rose was the real OTP, why is Martha getting even more stuff than Rose - the animation, a 12-inch figure as well as the little one...

With a lisp.

We might have a winner here, folks.

And as soon as I saw the news about the animated series I knew certain segments of fandom would freak out about it. Oh fanbrats, you're ever so predictable.

Actually, watching the forums and whatnot, there seems to be a pattern to this - every new bit of Martha/S3 news is followed by a deep panic. It's as if, deep down, the fanbrat crowd is subconsciously terrified that Doctor/Rose isn't the OTP end all OTPs, and there's a little fear with every bit of news that this is going to be the evidence which proves it...
It's fascinating to watch - or it would be if it didn't get so nasty about Martha/Freema.

I feel really bad for Freema. No matter how awesome Martha is there will be some segments of fandom that will hate her anyway.

(It was shortly after a comment about wanting to punch Freema for having a "bitch face" if you want some of the context)
"Yes, it's got to be hard to replace Billie--but as rumor/anecdote would have it, she doesn't seem to be either 1. grateful for the opportunity to be on DW, or 2. making much of an effort to be friendly with the fans. Ungrateful wench."

One Companion to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
What would happen if we threw Rose into Mount Doom?

That's ... much as Billie seems sweet and all, I've never heard of her making any connection with fans outside of book signings.
The crack is strong in this one.

But yes, I agree on the crack. Especially with the "doesn't seem grateful" rubbish. (I'm actually fairly sure the first DWM had Freema directly saying "I'm so grateful for this opportunity")
