Oh fandom, you so stupid.

HP fandom: Determined to bring about the end of the Internet, one way or another. This time, not about anyone being gay.

In other news, Doctor Who and David Tennant won some more awards. And whilst Freema might have unfortunately missed out on the Best Actress prize, she clearly won at hot.

There also appears to have been a [livejournal.com profile] lifeonmartha incident regarding RPF. So figures that happens when I'm still not getting comment notifications, I've gone to bed early because of catching up on sleep, and I spend most of the day finishing off reading A Feast of Crows. Mods are working things out as we speak, and it's hopefully under control.

Also, Joss Whedon has announced he has a new show in the works. Starring Eliza Dushku, no less. Must say, the concept has me intrigued, albeit in a this could either be brilliant or painful sort of way - but one could say the same thing about Firefly, too, so I'll give Joss the benefit of the doubt.

I'm also highly amused there's a [livejournal.com profile] save_dollhouse community already which I joined for great lulz. I may or may not join one of the more informative comms, depends what other info comes out about it. [livejournal.com profile] crossoverman has a bunch of links in any case.

There's rumours going around about the supposed contents of the Indiana Jones 4 trailer. Has me amped up, anyway, and I'm looking forward to seeing if they are true.

On a final note: That trailer music "All the Strange, Strange Creatures" from the Doctor Who series three soundtrack is insanely catchy.

 @ [livejournal.com profile] save_dollhouse it is so true though. FOX actually annoy me with their 4 episode then can it 'policy' *cough* Drive *cough*

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I never saw Drive, sorry to say. But I am aware of Fox's bad rep. *cries for Firely*

I, too, saw the news announcing a new Joss Whedon show yesterday, and while I think that Whedon is not the genius he considers himself to be and Minear wrote some really crap Angel episodes (along with some really brilliant ones), I can't help hoping that Dollhouse will be awesome. And not cancelled after less than one season.

I'm aware that Joss isn't actually the God some of his fans make him out to be. But, well, he's a nice guy. And after the way Firefly got treated, I do hope the network doesn't fuck him over again.

Also, the series concept strikes me as highly... experimental, and I've always thought Joss did his best work when he was playing with experimental stuff.

[livejournal.com profile] gehayi is on my flist. I winced.

Saw the LoM incident as well and I knew it would get blah from the first three replies even. Le sigh.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Oh, I saw that post (well duh, it was wanked). But yes, there's some immense amounts of stupid going on here. He's being sued because he was told by JKR not to go ahead and decided to go ahead anyway. Seriously, Mr Vander Ark is not the brightest crayon in the box.

I didn't see the LoM thing until it had 75-odd comments. Alas.

From: [identity profile] gryffinclaw.livejournal.com

Freema looked breathtaking!

The person causing all the drama about the RPF really annoyed me - as I am sure you saw by my comments to her. I have never seen someone being so unfairly targeted for writing a fic!

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

She did, indeed, look quite fab. David looked like he'd just fallen out of bed.

Let's just say that the mods are having a discussion about that, and there should be a mod post on the matter in the next couple of days.

From: [identity profile] gryffinclaw.livejournal.com

A discussion about my comments to her or about her attacking someone for her RPF?

From: [identity profile] gryffinclaw.livejournal.com

Honestly if I get reprimanded for the situation so be it. I am not apologetic about the way I handled her or anything I said. So if I have to face the consequences of that, then I will.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I'm not going to tell you off, but to put it bluntly, next time? Take the moral high-ground, tell the mods and walk away. You may have been in the right, but enforcing the rules is the business of the mods, not you. If you must do something, take it elsewhere.

From: [identity profile] gryffinclaw.livejournal.com

I honestly did not even think of telling a mod. Enforcing the rules is the business of the mods, and next time, if there is a next time, I will alert someone.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

About the entire situation, and how we can stop it happening again - both the RPF stuff, comments on LJ-cuts, and personal attacks. Honestly, the whole thing should have been stopped a lot early, but several mods were away from keyboards when it was going on.

From: [identity profile] gryffinclaw.livejournal.com

Well the mods could not help being away. I do not think any member has a problem with how the mods already run the community.

My only concern is it turned someone off ever writing RPF again, and that is not what should have happened. Again, not the mods fault.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

That is terribly unfortunate. I know it's a controversial fic genre, and the lack of cut to start with (failed or for whatever reason) didn't help things, but yes, it shouldn't have happened.

From: [identity profile] jo-mako.livejournal.com

I know the writer isn't that clueless or willing to deliberately screw up a post...I screw up coding all the time...I thought the mods who were on handled it well..it's just that the one chick wouldn't stop and there were a few other rather snarky comments while the author was trying to fix the cut...As Soon As She Noticed IT!!! something like 5 minutes or so at most.

By the time I actually got to the post, I had already noticed that one mod had stepped in. So no complaints on the modding front, and seriously? This is the first time I ever seen a hiccup of any kind at LoM...so I highly doubt there'll be a repeat performance...

If the HP really does blow up in the rl with court cases and stuff it'll be interesting to see what happens to fansites.

It'll be interesting to see what will happen with fandom, full stop.
