You know that squee for Doctor Who which I mentioned that I had just gotten back again?

Well, it's gone again.

Nice job, RTD. *goes back to pondering the surrealness of having more enthusiasm for Torchwood than Doctor Who*

I think I'm going to go become an anime fangirl.

Even if that was taken out of context, with the S3 fallout and just... everything? It's a little easier to believe than it ever should be. What a repugnant thing to say. It also pretty much killed any straggling temptation I might have had to continue watching Rusty-tenure Who and just hold out to see how things go before I'd even step into this mess again. Most especially considering the oh so blessed albatross of Nu Who is scheduled to return. Ugh.

Anime and Avatar, take me away!!

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Oh, I'll still watch, for Ten (who I still like, even if he can be an arse), and Donna, and Martha of course when she returns. But there won't be quite the rush to get it ASAP, and don't think I'll be quite as fanatical.

Oh, I've been meaning to get into Avatar, since it seems to end up all over the place these days. Know anywhere I can watch it online?

From: [identity profile] eido.livejournal.com

My Nu Who fandom had already been faltering and I was giving the wary eye at S4 as it was. Now I feel numb about the whole thing. Eh.

Know anywhere I can watch it online?

*wink nudge* (http://www.stage6.com/videos/search:avatar) ATLA is better than any Nick cartoon has any right to be (then again, I loved "Invader Zim" too, but can't say I'm a regular Nick watcher at all). I did with that like what you'd done with FMA, watched one ep then lost a weekend binging until I'd seen them all. Seriously, stay out of it's fandom tho. It's Harry Potter-lite.

My enthusiasm for it seems to wax and wane. I'm at a low point right now, and am currently hoping that the Christmas episode (and trailer following) manage to get me a bit cheerier about things. I'm certainly considering drawing back from fandom a bit.

Ta for that!

I've seen a bit of Zim, not much, but found it rather amusing, and Avatar really looks like fun, which I could use in a fandom right now. (Seriously, I love Death Note, but it isn't exactly fun per se. I'll hold off watching more of it until I'm in the mood for that sort of thing)

From: [identity profile] eido.livejournal.com

Avatar IS fun and it has *much* action-adventuring going on. The story is also surprisingly epic considering it's A) American animation and B) on Nickelodeon. There's not many other animated shows I can compare it too, but I've tried (of anime, Record of Lodoss War and The Twelve Kingdoms are comparable, but they're still not totally apropos. Both those series are darker and for an older crowd). You can also tell the people who made it got big inspiration from Miyazaki. I could imagine if he happened to be American and did a series, it would probably be something very much like Avatar.

As someone who has this terrible fondness for kid's stuff, I do like the sound of that. And yeah, I could so use something that is good and fun and action-adventury right about now. Even if it is American.

You know, it's quite adorable the way that people are just falling over themselves to get me to watch this show.

That said, it's being put Christmas, since I shall be Internet-less as of the day after tomorrow.

I woke up with so much squee this morning. Martha in UNIT, the latest VotD trailer, and it's taken in a flash.

What, a shitty, bastard day.

It might not work though. I've been pretending for years that the Daily Mail didn't exist, yet it's still printing this utter shite.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Ah, it's one of those papers. (Though I have worked some of them out, I'm still not entirely familiar with all the UK papers and their social quirks)

From: [identity profile] in-the-end.livejournal.com

This paper once claimed that, when two young girls went missing, because they lived near asylum seekers, said asylum seekers must be responsible (well, they obviously didn't say it but it was heavily implied). It's commonly known in this country as the Hate Mail.

From: [identity profile] in-the-end.livejournal.com

It's OK. They have sudoko in the middle page so you can pull it out and not look at the utter shite that they print.

It's like they know no one wants to read it but make money buy having 9 sudoko grids a day.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Nine? Seriously? Most papers I know of only have one, or two or three at most.

Which reminds me, somewhere I have an almost untouched sudoku book lying around. I shall have to clean my room so I can find it again.

I posted a rant about Rusty's remarks, and now I've got people telling me that Rusty didn't mean it that way, that of course we can't expect the Doctor to treat all of his companions well, that Rusty made Doctor Who relevant...

Avatar and Fullmetal Alchemist are quite, quite Win.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Honestly, since the only person who knows what Rusty meant is Rusty himself, they're as much jumping to conclusions as we are.

I have very much love for FMA, and Avatar is next on my to watch list.

Terrible, isn't it?

Little Brother says he "thinks" he's seen you around OG.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I am shocked and appalled.

Probably. Though I've been a bit MIA as of late, what with Thailand and the forum movie. But they have spoilers, so I'm back on there a bit in the last few days.

From: [identity profile] tortoises.livejournal.com

I am sorry you feel that way.

He's been away in Europe; he arrived home on Monday night and has spent the last two days in front of the computer catching up on his forums. >_>;;

It took me something like a week to catch up on my LJ fpage when I came back from two weeks in Vietnam, and that was having accessed it from internet cafes a few times.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Personally, I got to skip=980, at which point I couldn't backread any further, checked a few relevant comms and LJs, and then gave up trying to catch up.

From: [identity profile] tortoises.livejournal.com

I think I'm unhealthily obsessed with LJ, but at least it keeps me distracted.
