You know, given my recent posting frequency, I seem to have had very little to talk about as of late.

Though my neck is less ow, which is always of the good.

Fandom-wise, there's been yet another chapter in the never ending Lexicon Wank

On a Doctor Who note, they appear to have finally reached a critical mass of cracktastic rumoured spoilers, and thus nothing people are coming up with seems at all weird to me now.

I fear permanent damage.

Oh, and response to some bitchy comments over on Who fandom's new anonymeme, we have Reasons why Martha is awesome (with no bitching about other companions). Shinytabulous!

And your profound thought of the day, courtesy of someone in my Writing Through Character class:

"You can believe in multigrain."

"You can believe in multigrain."

Gosh ! Thanks for sharing - my life feels enriched now ! (What was this perosn ON? And where can I get some?!)

Martha is awesome all by herself - why can't anyone see that? You don't need to hate other companions to see or love that !

(We had to do some stream of consciousness writing about "What is natural?" Followed by discussion of what makes a character natural. These combined into bizarre metaphors and amusement)

True indeedy.

Aha ! I always say no one would want to do Word Association with me because I usually think of three things simultaneously when given a particular word. Recently someone asked me what do you think of when I say "Carpe Diem", which got the response "Dead Poets Society, Terry Pratchet, Latin class" all in one breath...

Well, the person I was writing down for came up with "Wholegrain". Though I may have triggered it by mentioning bread.

There was also a fab metaphor about why archetype characters were like recipes on TV cooking shows.

Okay !! My mind's boggling slightly on that one, but then I rarely watch cooking progs (aside from watching Freema on "Something for the Weekend" and David on "Ready, Steady, Cook" recently !)

Basically, with archetypical characters, you already know how they will end up - like the "one you prepared earlier".

Instead, the reason for reading/watching isn't about the ending, but the process of making it to that point.

Or something. I forget the exact wording, but it was hilarious.

Ah, OK - yes I can see that... Thanks for elaborating.
