1. The weather remains a diabolical evil and must be punished.

How one punishes the weather for being too hot too live is not entirely certain. But I sure I will come up with something.

2. [livejournal.com profile] scans_daily is the source of all Internet knowledge. TRUFAX.

No, really. I commented there about the deeply creepy and stalkery sounding lyrics to Avril Lavigne's Girlfriend, and in response I got about a kajillion links to yet more stalkery sounding lyrics.

2. a) There are a distressing number of songs which sound like they were written by stalkers.

3. People were playing Werewolf on Second Floor when I showed up at Uni.

This was oddly comforting. It's nice to know some things never change. And then I went and got lynched 'cos Chifley was totally playing everyone. Which was less fun.

4. ...And I may have been in fandom for too long.

This became somewhat evident when the lecture slides abbreviated "Hunter/Gatherer" to "H/G", and I couldn't help but wonder what Harry Potter shipping had to do with anthropology.

Make your own stalker playlist!

There's plenty of suitable songs to be found at the link.

There aren't that many listed from what I can see... where's "Sunglasses at night" (which he wears so he can watch you live...and breathe...), or "Hungry like the wolf" (which is arguably more metaphoric, but...

"Stalked in the forest, too close to hide
Ill be upon you by the moonlight side
Do-do do do, do do do, do do do, do do do, do do
High blood drumming on your skin its so tight
You feel my heart, Im just a moment behind
Do-do do do, do do do, do do do, do do do, do do")

"Hungry like the Wolf" seems pretty strongly metaphorical for something. So you may have a point there.

Did they list "Every Breath You Take" by the Police? 'Cause there is no way that song's not about stalking someone, seriously.

That's because being stalkery/creepy/obsessed/violent is often considered to be romantically in love. TRUFAX. And not just in pop songs. Hermione attacking Ron with canaries out of jealousy? Cute, apparently. Col. Brandon falling in love with 16-year-old Marianne because she reminds him of the girl he loved 20 years ago? Must be True Love. It is the inability to cope and move on and get a grip what makes a true romantic.

And "Baby, it's cold outside" is a scene of seduction; she might say "no", but we all know she really means "yes".

There's some really weird stuff that goes on about culturally, I agree.

I mean, look at Romeo and Juliet. It's not supposed to be a grand romantic tale, it's a freaking tragedy. And yet look at the insane way it gets idealised.

2) HAH. My personal favorite song for stalking is "Possession." It's all very pretty sounding until you realize it's about committing sexual assault. (Someone really needs to vid Doctor/Master to it.)

She wrote it after she finally got a restraining order against the guy who'd been stalking her for three years, according the article I read. (I bet it was cathartic.)

Anyway, here are the lyrics so you can see for yourself.

See... 2 rules about werewolf:

1) Lynch Suresh (just because)
2) Lynch Chifley (just to be safe)
