So, today because I was bored and was finished for class for the week - oh, and I got my Dev Psych Case Study back and got a H2A for it, which was pleasing (this is the one I got an extension on) - I went and saw Indiana Jones 4 this evening.

Yes, I still want to go see it for my birthday whatsit next weekend. But I saw it today as well.

And thus I shall not be spoiling it for the peoples on my flist who have not as yet seen said movie (or won't be for until said birthday whatsit).

But I enjoyed it. It was not without it's flaws - there's probably one line and one scene that I'd cut completely, and there's a slow patch in the middle, but there's some rather good bits in it, too. And some bits that are completely and utterly made of crack.

So yeah, that was fun. I'd recommend it if you're a fan of the series and will come see it with me for my birthday.

...It's wrong that I'm really looking forward to what comes out of it, ficwise. Yeah, yeah, I know. But certain spoilers from it give a whole world of vague backstory I am dying to find out about, and so I'm giving fandom the Y HALO THAR look. Well, that, and post-movie stuffs.

That's and it's reawakened my theory that Indiana Jones should be crossed over with more things. I mean, an Indy/Pirates of the Caribbean crossover would totally work! Yeah, you'd need characters to be made immortal or whatever via cursed gold/serving on the Flying Dutchman/Fountain of Youth/whatever, but it'd be totally worth it for Jack Sparrow to compliment Indy on his hat.

Also, I once stumbled across an Indy/FMA fic which worked incredibly well. And now I want more. (Come on, post-movie, older Ed and Al meeting Indy? Shared hatred of Nazis FTW!)

Not to mention Doctor Who/Indy. Come on, Doctor Jones so needs to meet Doctor Jones...

I read years ago an Indy/Spike & Dru crossover that was completely awesome. Sadly I lost the link to it when my oldoldold!computer died.

That sounds... interesting. Actually, it could work. Be weird, but it'd work.

I can't remember the plot, sadly, but I do remember it being very well written with proper cliffhangers in three parts.

Pirates of the Caribbean basically is the Indiana Jones of the 21st century, what with the homage to cheesy B-movies on an A-movie budget and the pop-cultural influence. The only difference being that Indy III was better than the last part of the POTC trilogy. :)

Though I did like PotC3, since Last Crusade is my fave Indy film, I'll agree there.

But it's not just the sensibility - the supernatural stuff seems more consistant than a lot of fandoms people try to crossover.

Hi! I saw this post when I was doing [livejournal.com profile] who_daily...

And I had to mention that I once wrote Indiana Jones/Doctor Who!

Here (http://pie-is-good-fic.livejournal.com/3683.html#cutid1) and here (http://pie-is-good-fic.livejournal.com/3914.html).

Mind you, it's not very good because it was crackfic, originally written in comments on [livejournal.com profile] ihasatardis...but still, it exits.

(I really should do a real Indy/DW crossover at some point that isn't bad crack fic.)

Hee, cute.

But yes, fic of the non-cracky (or only minorly cracky) sort would be nice. And I still want Doctor Jones to meet Doctor Jones.
