And in a twist that is shocking to, oh, no-one in particular, we have our first bit of Steven Moffat as boss Who-wank.

The actually shocking bit? Rather than being related to his shipping proclivities, the wank is courtesy of the mad rantings of one Lawrence Miles. (I mean, snarling, predatory Scottishness? Seriously?)

...Which is a bit odd, because there's some seriously crazy stuff come up from the episode. Mostly related to River Song, guest du jour, who is either an evil whore or secretly everyone from Rose to the Rani in disguise, depending on who you ask.

And on speaking of Mr Moffat, I was having some seriously disturbing dreams about creepy abandoned buildings last night, as well as small children with unnatural powers. And I haven't even watched his new episode yet. I don't think that's quite fair...

And on a completely unrelated topic, I'm going to post the dates of when all my end of semester stuff is due here, so I have it all in one place.

Creative Writing: Monday June 9 (3000 words Creative, 1000 exogesis)
Power, Ideology and Inequality: Friday June 13 (2500 Ethnographic Essay)
Personal and Social Development 3: Thursday June 19 (2hr exam, 2:15pm)
Research Methods 3: Monday June 23 (3hr exam, 9:30am)

I heard all about the SM wank from Le Miles... Sad - actually pathetic would be more accurate !

Oh and the "River is someone else" stuff is completely boggling my brain (I'm not sure which is freakier - River is Jenny or River is Jack !)

That sucks about your dreams (although amazing power of suggestion from Mr Moffat, methinks!)

A bit pathetic. But amusing.

The way certain people seem torn between hating River and assuming she must be Rose is particularly boggling. Since some of it seems to come from the exact same people which is... confusing.

It's a bit odd: I've gone for ages without actually remembering my dreams at all. And now all of a sudden I am. Weird.

Perhaps you should sue him?

Snarling, predatory Scottishness sounds horribly like a fangirl sexual fantasy to me. Mad Larry loses at mental images there.

...Larry is wanting the hatesex from Moff?

*shudders*

I am so incredibly glad I don't know what Miles actually looks like right now.

I think the only way to approach his rants is with childish pop-psychology. Luckily he makes this very easy.

Larry is wanting the hatesex from Moff?

If some of the quotes I've been seeing from his obsessive love-hate screed are accurate, yes!

I expected the 'lols, I bet she's Romana/the Rani' but the sheer extent of the deadly serious tl;dr 'THIS IS WHY SHE IS JACK/ROSE/JENNY/MARTHA/THE MASTER AND THIS IS TOTALLY GOING TO BE CANON' is mindboggling.

I'll admit the people who are desperately pinning their hopes for the future on the fact that River Song is actually Rose/actually evil are mildly frightening in their SRS BIZNES-ness. Which won't stop me laughing my arse off when they are wrong, of course.

From: [identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com

My spec is: she's not evil or anyone in disguise, she's exactly what she appears to be, his girlfriend/wife from the future, and she dies at the end of the next episode (so when he meets her later he spends the whole of their relationship knowing when exactly he loses her) - it fits with the DWM comparison to the 'theme of love and loss' in TGiF, and Lizo's statement about the ending being 'exceptionally moving and emotional'.

And if that spec turns out to be right, fandom should go nuclear approximately 5 seconds after the end credits.

I'm in complete agreement with that spec, as it sounds exceptionally Moffat-esque to me.

...And yet, I bet that the majority of fics that get written featuring her will be retconning her into be Rose/whoever, or making her evil. *sigh*

From: [identity profile] casirafics.livejournal.com

Either that, or whatever he has to do to resolve things in pt. 2 ends up wiping out their entire future timeline together and he's left with a heartbreaking goodbye and an empty book. Something like that.

Or, y'know, Moff could surprise us all and have everything work out all sunshine-and-rainbow-y, but somehow I doubt it. :)

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I hadn't even thought of that.

Yep, that'd definitely pile on the trauma.

That said, Moff was responsible for "Everyone lives!" and talked RTD into making Jenny live and the end of New Earth end without a kill-em-all, so while he does angst, he tends to leave people alive...

From: [identity profile] casirafics.livejournal.com

True that. It's just that after GItF, I don't trust him not to leave me weeping. ;) I do trust him with a good story, though, so we'll see what happens....

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I can't honestly come up with a way to end things satisfactorily that doesn't end up with River dead or gone.

But then, I'm not Steven Moffat.

From: [identity profile] evilgeniuslady.livejournal.com

That is sort of my spec too. It's funny how fandom's become so used to trying to figure out impossible plot twists that sometimes the really obvious solution seems like the most implausible one.

I envy your vaguely spread out assessment. *has three essays due on same day*.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I'm pleased after last semester I ended up with everything due at once.
