I gonna kill ya

...Because that's a real comforting message to get on your mobile when you're home alone.

There's a new SMS scam going around Vic, NSW and WA where SMS messages are sent threatening to kill you if you don't deposit a certain amount of money in a bank account ($5k, I think). If that's the message you got, call Crimestoppers.

Nah, the bit I posted was the message in it's entirety. I'm not dumb enough to fall for stupid scams like that. (I actually got a Nigeran scammer spam email the other day. Only edited so that it was some Chinese bloke affected by the earthquake)

*nods*

I'd consider calling them/your local police anyway, especially if it's got you really on edge. If the number's not silent, they can find who sent it. At the very least, a call from the police might make them rethink stupid stunts like that.

I'm not that worried, honestly. I've gotten some really quite odd wrong number messages before, this one just is a little stranger than most. I'd be more worried if it was from someone I actually knew.

I guess if you get more you can report the bastards and hopefully they might get to catching them.

Indeed.

But for now I'm just chalking it up to a wrong number and a probably out of context comment.
