LET THE WANK BEGIN!

Honestly, I'm a little disappointed, but not devastated. Part of the whole fading up on fandom thing, I suppose. But this ought to cause epic wank *gets popcorn*

I fear I am going to be one of Those Fans who wonders why we had to have a year of specials when he's leaving anyway. Also, tough job for Moffat having to change the entire cast in one go.

I've already seen someone angry that they dared to change Doctors.

I'm somewhat confused about why they are doing things this was, but eh, I'll live (I can understand why he didn't leave at the end of S4, because changing companions and Doctor's at the same time would be a problem)

I look forward to epic wank and hissyfits. And given the whole specials thing, they shall continue for a whole two years until Eleven is in place.

Ahh, so THAT's why The Doctor Who Forum isn't loading. This'll be fun. Very, very fun.

Also, R.E. the news... susprisingly not that disappointed.

What? What? There's nothing on my flist about anything! Spill, people!

I toddled by to see how they were reacting, and yeah, it's a no-go.

Me too, actually. The fact my interest in Who had been fading recently is a big part of this, mind.

Do you think they'll pick up a proper companion in the specials?

I am "eagerly" awaiting all the "oh good, it leaves Ten as Rose's Doctor *hearts*"

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I thought not originally, but now...

I was more expecting grumpiness from all the people who thought they'd see Ten go off into the sunset with her, so they could write epic romantic adventures set before Eleven came along.

It probably won't be anywhere near as bad as what happened when Eccleston left, but the wank's most definitely going to be flowing thick and fast.

I think it's partly due to the fact that they sort of removed the Doctor's edge a bit in season four. All this "THERE IS NOT HIGHER AUTHORITY THAN ME RAAAR" stuff grated after a bit, and I was dismayed by moments like the Doctor apologising after the "Who do you think made your clothes?" scene in Planet of the Ood. I'll be sad to see Tennant go in the sense that when he was great he was great, but I can't help but feel Ten got a pretty bum deal characterisation-wise towards the end.

Yeah, it seems really weird to regenerate the Doctor without anyone there who gives a shit and nothing to hook the viewer into coming back now that the popular guy's left.

They're probably still waiting for that to happen. It still could! She could come back again and third time lucky!

True, that was a surprise whereas this has been waited on for a while.

I faded on Ten as a character during S3, what with him being a jerk to Martha, and while S4 didn't make it any worse, it didn't repair anything, either.

But you're right: When he was great, he was great, but he was also given a lot of dodgy stuff to do.

I dunno if they'll be in all the specials, or maybe the last one will introduce the S5 companion.

If I see anyone saying that, I'll laugh in their face. And point out Billie's ickle baby.

I kind of hope so. I'd like some continuity between eras.

People are apparently convinced taht Tennant is the father of that child. Srsly.

I'd be more surprised if they didn't, at this point.

...

You're shitting me.

Here's my idea for season five:

Martha. Sitting in a chair, cause Freema's legs would get tired. In an unfurnished room. For thirteen episodes.

Hey, I'd tune in.

From: [identity profile] raptor-au.livejournal.com

I like it. Or, conversely, we could go old school Who and just have her sitting naked in front of a different wobbly cardboard set every episode.

'Sorry, Ms Freeman. We spent this season's budget on the chair'.

Trufax, but I heard it second hand. It's cos her baby isn't blond or something.

Me too!!

And Martha's pretty much the Doctor anyway so yeah!

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I think I kind of saw it coming.

That sad, I'm a little disappointed we don't get Ten in a full Moffat season.

Is there already a betting pool on how long this might take to show up on fandom_wank?

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Not that I've seen.

But the words "soon" pop into mind.
