You know, I would talk about Uni, but thus far this week it has been less than interesting. Well, possibly excluding Novels, in which when we had to come up with event to start a plot, I somehow ended in a group with this one guy who was obsessed with teddy bears. Yes, I know.
Also, next week we are discussing American Psycho. I feel a sudden urge to have a business card made.
I'm going to get back to the interesting stuff, aka fandom. And it turns out this is going to be a sequel to my last post, since the exact same fandoms turn up.
Anyways, after Uni on Monday,
fa11ing_away and I went to see Watchmen at the IMAX. I went again, partially because I wanted to see it on IMAX, partially because I wanted to see if the comments I heard about it being better the second time were true, and partially to see how someone who hadn't read the graphic novel would react. (Her reaction, as far as I can tell, seems to be along the lines of "It was quite good, especially with the shades of gray stuff, but I never want to see it again." She did pinch my copy of the novel to read, so...)
And in vaguely related news, I seem to be finding movie!Veidt distressingly attractive. Which is wrong on multiple levels, starting at the fact that this is, you know, Adrian Veidt we are talking about (and I certainly never liked comic!Veidt like that) and ending with him being, as
fa11ing_away put it, very Mardi Gras.
Curse you, Matthew Goode, for making him so damn pretty. Especially in the scene in my icon, which wins a prize for moments that shouldn't be hot but are.It doesn't hurt that there's actually been some decent fic floating round. Or fanart, which is currently with the screencaps I've nabbed in a folder on my computer. Named "Boys", for the lulz factor.
And to jump over to my other fandom du jour, there's a new chapter of FMA up, and it's really kinda epic. We're definitely getting close to the end here, but oh boy, it's fun right now.

I mainly loved the way the Comedian was played, and poor Night Owl.
And last night I got a lightbulb and checked IMDB. I knew I knew the guy who played the Comedian from somewhere. It just hadn't clicked that he was John Winchester...

possibly a few too many parentheticals...

Oh, it took a bit to click, did it?

BF remarked that, while the vigilantes may not have explicit superpowers, they do seem to be a little stronger than your average Joe/Jane in the street, the way they broke bones and tossed people around so easily. Martial arts training only explains so much. And while Night Owl might have some enhancements built into that costume of his, there's simply nowhere for them to go in Silk Spectre's. Not to mention that at the point where they did the most damage, they weren't even wearing their costumes.
Yeah it took a while to click, and it probably still wouldn't have clicked if I hadn't decided to start reading some Supernatural fic for once, and came across one featuring John Winchester. That's when I thought 'hang on, isn't he...' and yes, he is.

I think that was a Snyder only adaptation. I don't recall them being quite so superhuman in the novel. Well, except the bullet catch.
I don't even watch Supernatural, but I knew that fact ages ago.

And going from my class... I don't think we'll have that problem.

It's a pretty darn good example of how to write well in the present tense, and of an unreliable narrator, and... I'll shut up since I'm sure you'll hear enough about it in class.

The Rowdy should have it if nowhere else.

Although, in alternate 1985 there doesn't seem to be much in the way of the Internet, so what's he got in that BOYS file? DOS porn?

I tend to think it's his electronic little black book.
