Relax, everyone! George Takei has a reassuring message for humanity.

...Yeah, I kind of love that guy.

Anyway, am in a reasonably good mood at the moment. Short break allows for sleeping in time, and got my results back from a test I had recently, with 89%. Which is always a nice number to see on coursework.

Plus internet has been on the amusing side of things lately.

I mean, so far I've also found a cockatiel singing the Evangelion theme song, Chop Cup, which is rather gloriously mindfucky, and Things Could Be Worse, a series of tragedies in art.

Because things could always be worse.

Also, courtesy of a certain kinkmeme, I have now seen several different combinations of Texts from Last Night and Code Geass, which will be files with the Utena version I linked a while back as the greatest things ever. I don't know why anime + TFLN is so funny to me, but it is.

(Plus there's also Ask Code Geass Dads, which is endless funny if you are familiar with a certain fandom meme).

I have noticed there that the last bunch of links have found are all Tumblr sites. Tumblr is not a site that I am on, though I know some people on my flist are - and some aren't. I can see the entertainment there in checking out all the awesome art (I love me some shiny pretties), but not being much of a making art person myself, I'd just end up constantly reblogging stuff from other people.

So flist, please, please convince me whether or not I should get a tumblr account! Links to awesome tumblrs is considered a valid form of argument.

Hi there, just a random new follower here XD

Personally I love tumblr because of all the Code Geass meme stuff! I've contributed a couple times to Code Geass Dads. :P

For the most part I think that Tumblr is just about reblogging pictures, so you're free to use it that way!

Why hello thar, person whom I don't recall speaking with before. Please feel free to introduce yourself.

Is there much else to Tumblr than reblogging? (Or posting art for those who make it). That stuff seems fun, but discussions always seem awkward to read in my eyes.

Hihi, I think I added you via the Code Geass community here on livejournal. My name is Jodie! I'm a cosplayer/photographer/fujoshi from Melbourne, Australia. I watched Code Geass earlier this year and it blew me away and now I'm obsessed. :)

Tumblr is very amusing for all the themed blogs you can follow like the ones you have found. There's lots of really great "ask" ones where an artist draws their replies as well. So people do use it to post their own art and photos too. You can tag posts and those tags can be tracked or searched by other people, so it's nice and easy to find things you are interested in outside of the blogs you are following.

I feel that for discussion and proper blogging, Livejournal is still better. It's just that it's rather dead lately. Hence me adding new people like yourself to give my watch list some new life! :)

Oh, another Melbourne person I see. I just don't recall much actual conversation with you, really.

Yeah, LJ seems to be better for actual blogging, even if Tumblr has it's arty benefits.

I don't post much on my tumblr really, I just like looking at other things and getting my Rory fix: http://rorywilliamsfacts.tumblr.com/ :D
I tend to collect things I like and just lurk ;)

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Well, lurking is always a valid strategy when it comes to forum going.

Hmm, tumblr is fun, I think. I usually post videos there, and reblog things. I don't use it a lot though because I'm not an art person, and don't like coming across as a spammer.

I would say it's one of those cute sites it's fun to be part of, but nothing one can't live without.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Lol, I'd probably end up all spam-tastic, too.

Oh, I know it's not something I desperately need. I'm just wondering if I should be bothered getting an account.

From: [identity profile] transient-words.livejournal.com

the icon has nothing to do with the comment XD

I have to keep myself from not spamming daily there -_-

It's a great site if you want to kill time, really XD.

If you like pictures and videos, then it's quite fun.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Dude, half my icons exist just for the lulz

Yeah, I can see how I'd get exceedingly spammy, exceeding fast.

Especially since I do like those things.

From: [identity profile] taithe.livejournal.com

George Takei's voice is like velvet. ♥

I technically have a tumblr account, and use it occasionally to check out the art. It's awesome if you want to find funny images and comics, but it is mostly reblogs. I prefer going on the original sites (ex: pixiv, deviantart, etc.) for the fanwork because they're more organized. It does come across as spammy sometimes, because you have FLASHING .GIFS EVERYWHERE and long convo stems and uncut material depending on the people you follow.

But it's a fun place if you like that sort of stuff so I say if you're interested, why not?

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I'm finding more people than I expected "technically" have accounts. Though I agree, from experience, that other sites are easier to navigate in general, pixiv is useful if you think of it as being like someone's favourites page.

But the conversations are so very awkward, from what I've seen.

I don't know. I honestly have been considering getting a tumblr account solely to reblog Fuck Yeah, Ouran Live Action!. Well, that and to have thinky thoughts about why Daito Shunsuke (Kyouya) never seems to get a real shirtless scene together with the rest of the cast.

But I don't think you're all that familiar with Ouran High School Host club, so you're probably not even sure what I'm talking about...

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I've seen the anime! It was actually a lot of fun. And I know a little about the manga, though I haven't read it.

Not especially familiar with the live action series, though.

The live action is awesome! Very faithful to the anime/manga, actually. And somehow they managed to find an actor that works for Honey.

I still don't think the guy playing Tamaki is handsome enough, but he more than makes up for it in sheer personality. And Kyouya, Haruhi, Honey&Mori and the twins are just about perfect. About the only problem is, not enough Renge. :-)

Only eleven episodes (last one is coming out tonight!), but extremely funny and just plain fun.

Very much a Jdrama, though, which means it might be an acquired taste.

XWA

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Aw, I loved Renge.

I may have to check it out at some point, but I think this might be one of those series that requires watching with some friends to get the full impact of the lulz (I confess that I haven't seen a lot of Jdrama)

From: [identity profile] grendelity.livejournal.com

Tumblr is fun-times. :B It's basically where all the artists I follow/watch have moved, and it's my one vice I allow myself while at work. It's an amusing way to pass the time. I miss the LJ having energy, though, gotta say.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Yeah, poor LJ becoming a thing of a past. It's really kinda depressing.

From: [identity profile] cat-empress.livejournal.com

Tumblr's fun. I only started using it because a bunch of people I met at LeakyCon used it, but mostly I reblog stuff. So essentially I'm using it as storage for all the pretty pictures and graphics that I don't want to just save on my hard drive. In terms of fandom content, there's a lot of Harry Potter, Doctor Who, and Glee, with generous helpings of a few others. But as far as I've noticed it's not much of a place for anime. But that might just be me not looking for it.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Yeah, some of the anime-types up thread have mentioned things they've seen, so it's not like it's entirely lacking. Not that I have any opposition to Harry Potter or Doctor Who content in general...
