You have not lived until you have heard a string quartet play "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

That is all.

Awesome. It's like opera singers trying to 'do' pop songs. It also reminds me of my brother's band playing that song - full band; he was the drummer - in church many years ago. I can't remember why that music in particular; I think the church was going through a progressive 'encourage the youngsters' spell - it was bizarre. But I do remember the minister saying "and that was [the band] playing "Smells Like Team Spirit" XD

I love insane stuff like that, it's hilarious.

And at times surprisingly good.

Um, yeah. *boggles*

Just why did a string quartet want to play 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', do you suppose?

I have no idea why they did it.

Sounds bloody brilliant, though.

Have you heard Third Eye Open - A strings tribute to Tool? V. good (mind you, I'm a Tool fan which probably helps).

hence the reason that i love apocalyptica. they do metallica and other songs of sheer awesomeness.
there's also a string quartet with the original name of THE String Quartet that does Muse. Rather spiffy, that.

I so must yoink some of them from you one of these days.

I really must track down some of this string quartet stuff - they've covered the whole new My Chemical Romance album.

I have no idea. I nabbed it online, and all it said was "String Quartet tribute to Nirvana"
.
