So, this week's installment of the glorious crack was somewhat less cracktastic than in the past, but was, well, pretty darn nifty.

At least it was if you like Blue Beetle(s).

I swear, someone on the B:TB&TB production team has to be a Doctor Who fan. As well as last week's shout outs, in the spin-off comic, apparently Rip Hunter is a Time Lord.

And onto serious business type posting: Just how curious are you flist-type people about The Egypt Trip?

Because I was wondering, if people are interested, if I should maybe set up a Twitter account so people can hear just what I'm up to, even if I can't reply.

I mean, whether I do that or not, I'm still going to have great big detailed posts when I get back with picspams and anecdotes and stuff, but it just struck me that people might find it nifty to see random comments about me standing in front of the pyramids or whatever, since I'll be otherwise out of contact for three weeks.

Any yays, nays to this idea?

...I think I'll go to bed early tonight. My bedroom light has just blown, and it's to late too go buy a replacement.
Note to self: Before purchasing any of the nummy looking Sangria at the Night Market, make sure you consider the following facts. A) Your ridiculously lightweight-ness when it comes to drinking, B) Just how large the damn glasses are, and C) How little sleep you had the night before on account of Inauguration watching.

Just for future reference.

Anyhow, it appears I shall be having a rather busy day tomorrow - at least compared to my recent days, in which I have been doing, um, not much.

But yes, I shall have to toddle over to Carlton tomorrow to see the Doctor (nothing important, I just require another needle jabbing), and then I have to buy some vital supplies for Egypt. Like shoes and new underwear. And a replacement Suduko book, for when my current one runs out.

At least I should be able to get to bed decently early tonight.

And this post is now officially a GIP, because I feel like it.
You know, I think I'll keep up the "glorious crack" theme that I mentioned in my last post, and bring up my most recent bit of glorious crack (And yes, I know like the entire internet has seen it before me): Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

There. Are. No. Words.

Except possibly ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH! Which, incidentally, is going to be stuck in my head for the next two weeks, so I shall be going all out to spread this earworm.

But yeah, no words. Until my next anime review post. There'll be one sometime before Egypt.

And while on a vaguely anime related note, it is only now, after having seen all of Cowboy Bebop, that I understand the true horror of Keanu Reeve's plan to play Spike. I'm not even a Keanu hater, it's just he's so unimaginably wrong for the part.

And to prove I can talk about non-fannish type things, it is now less than two weeks until my trip to Egypt. Huzzah! And all that jazz.

We have daily schedules and stuff and everything. Though I am now at the stage of trying to work out just what the hell I need, so I can work out what to pack, and what I need to buy.

Which is... interesting. I can't recall ever having packed for a three week trip before.
I take it from the absence of commentary on the previous post that nothing much of interest happened online while I was away. Too busy with Christmasness and all, I suppose. Which is only fair - I had a bit of that going on myself.

But yeah, ended up down at the Farm (the literal farm) with the Parentals and the Sister - and on a less traditional note, the Sister's Boyfriend.

We did the Traditional Christmas family whatsits, though some of the traditions were kinda new - Carols by Candlelight in Byaduk, of all places - and ye olde family dinner, and seeing assorted grandparents.

And presents, of course.

I got a Dark Knight DVD from the Sister, a new (and larger) memory card for my phone from Dad, and a bunch of travelling type goodies from Mum. Plus, some Egyptian (and Jordanian) moneys.

Aside from Christmassy shenanigans, in my time away I also managed to see The Curious Tale of Benjamin Button at the cinema (Not bad, in a "this is blatant awards bait" way), complete the entire Codex Alera book series thus far, and get half-way into Cowboy Bebop.

Which I shall be marathoning tomorrow, so I should be able to give you your DVDs back at New Years, [livejournal.com profile] tinyteddyqueen.

In other news, according to an email I got, Threadless shirts are in postage as of the 23rd. 'Course Christmas and New Years will kill the postal system for a bit, but they're on their way.

And on an entirely different note, in one month I will be going to Egypt! *\o/*
So apparently, after the damned freezing weekend, the weather's gotten hot again. Which is sort of fitting, seeing as it's almost Summer and all but Melbourne. >:( I've gotten sunburn on my shoulders!

Freaking Melbourne weather aside, my fabulously exciting day today consisted of going to the Doctor's. No, I am not actually sick, this was me getting sorted out for The Egypt Trip.

Speaking of which, I'm going to Egypt in two months! *\o/*

Anyhow, there was chattery, and getting prescriptions for some just-in-case antibiotics, and then I got jabbed with a needle. Joy.

And finally, I wish to point out that no matter how much glorious crack fandom can provide, nothing will ever compare to the Real World.

Bat Tutu

BEHOLD, THE ONE AND ONLY BAT-TUTU!
(Apologies for the sucky picture and reflections on the glass)

Witnessed as I walked back from the Doctor's. I saw that and seriously could not stop laughing.

It's a crazy, crazy world we live in, and I love it.
So, today in the mail I got a bunch of ~informative pamphlets~ from the travel agency whatsit for The Egypt Trip.

They were mostly pretty generic stuff - general info on Egypt and Jordan and insurance etc. - but there's also an itinerary for the flights. (Incidentally? Not Qantas. Which is vaguely comforting, what with the bad publicity they've been getting recently)

And all I have to say is this: Ouch.

Seven and a half hours. Then a three hour stopover. Then another 10 hours and 45 minutes.

And I cannot sleep on planes.

Oh, that's gonna hurt.
Today peak hour traffic decided to make my tram it's bitch, and I ended up half an hour late for my Creative Writing tute.

And to make things even odder, when I showed up, though all the books and bags were in the classroom, there were no people there whatsoever.

'Course it just ended up that the tutor was doing an exercise in which the class went people-watching, and then made up backgrounds for people they saw, and I picked an unfortunate time to arrive. (Incidentally, at least two people in the class mentioned they saw me walk past and started coming up with a story - mainly because I was wearing the SnakesonnaHat, and the boots that sort of match. They didn't tell me what they came up with, though.)

Aside from that, I am trying to work out if the 9am start just kills me for afternoon lectures, there's something about the temperature in the Hercus Theatre, or if the Cog and Neuro Development lecturer is just so boring he sends me to sleep. Because I was very close to it today.

On a less tiring note, my emails of the day from Teh Mother were informative in the best possible way.

Firstly, in the Hospital footy tipping competition (which I have been doing for years. Actually came third once, too.), I got my first ever perfect score for the week. Which, in addition to being nice in itself, now means I am only three points from the lead.

But best of all, that Egypt trip I mentioned Mum mentioned? It's now booked.

January 29th, baby!
So, guess what movie I went and saw tonight?

Go on, guess. ;)

...And in some news that could not actually be guessed by, oh, everyone, at dinner tonight Mum asked The Sister and I if we were interested in spending three weeks next February in Egypt.

My answer was, naturally, hell yes.

This is the tour that we'd be on if we went.

And to add something of vague fannish relevence, there's currently Torchwood wank over if Ianto is a Gary Stu or not. (My opinion? Not in canon, but so effing much in fanfic)

Also, over at [livejournal.com profile] freema_love, there have been some insanely adorable pictures of Noel and Freema posted.

ETA: So, I was over at FF.net, looking at some fic. Yeah, yeah, I know.

Anyhow, I stumbled across this one. Seems pretty average, right?

Well, check out the summary for said story here. (For those who are looking at this at some point in retrospect, the title is "Encounter With a Stranger") Read the first line.

I LOLd so hard.
