And so endeth my Internship. Last day and all today.

At least it ended on a good note. If by "good note" one means "had very little work to do, so spent most of the day messing around on the Internet and chatting with people who came up to ask how I liked my time there. And to compliment my haircut."

(Yeah, I got my hair cut the other day. It is now... much shorter than it used to be. Possibly the shortest I have ever had it. I was going to take a picture to show you guys, but I couldn't get a decent one - as always, I Do Not Photograph Well - so no camwhoring for you.)

Anyway, back to Interning. My supervisor gave me what sounded like a decent enough write-up. And we had an ice-cream party for my last day. No, really - at afternoon tea, someone brought in ice-cream and mini cones, and we ate that. Which was very nice of them.

So now I just need to do the reflective essay, which will be easy. Huzzah!

Also: Have a meme.

Did someone forget to tell Summer that it isn't due for another month? Because Sweet Tinkerbell Jesus, sometimes I really hate freaking Melbourne WeatherTM. 34 degrees. Ack.

Also, BRB flipping out over what the hell I can wear to Interning tomorrow. What do professional people wear in 30+ degree weather, anyway?

'Twasn't all sucktastic, though. Creative Writing is finished! For, um, ever. Two majors down, huzzah! I even got a reasonable amount of sleep and everything.

Which just leaves me with finishing up Interning stuff, and studying for my one exam on the 26th. Much less stressful.

Oh, and my upcoming series of Hen's Nights to attend, which shall be... interesting. Never been to one before, and suddenly there are two in two weeks.

Incidentally, I fixed up the settings on my Egypt Photos so they are now actually viewable to the public. (Thanks for pointing that out, [livejournal.com profile] fa11ing_away) Jordan pictures from that trip will go up... sometime before the forthcoming Cambodia trip.

So, what's new with you guys, since I am no longer distracted by procrastination my assignments?

Also: HOW ABOUT THOSE FMA SPOILERS? Come on, raws and scanlations!
And that'd be the end of classes for the year! Huzzah! Which just leaves me with my Interning (and reports for that), finishing off my Creative Writing and studying for my one exam.

Which is not too bad at all, really.

It rather helped that my last two pracs consisted of, well, today we presented our poster on Hurricane Ivan. (I spoke for a minute. Oh, the hard work...)

And yesterday, instead of getting the normal Wednesday Weirdness, we basically turned up, got marked off the roll, got asked by Charlie if we wanted to talk about our pieces, said no, and were told to leave. So instead we went to the pub. Again, ~hard work~.

Of course, instead I had deal with freaking Melbourne Weather. I swear, it was freezing just the other week, and now we have 30 degree days forecast? What the shit.

...And I have a very limited supply of hot weather clothes to wear to Interning. Ack.

In more exciting news, apparently [livejournal.com profile] khallandra is drawing me a picture of BATZAKU! Just as planned! ILU, BB! ♥

She is obviously a goddess in human form, and should be worshipped by all and sundry.
So, today on the tram into the city for interning, I met up with a guy whom I vaguely recalled from my time at IH. First year, residential college, oh back in the day....

So we got chatting, about what we've been up to since then, our respective degrees, what we've been up to, what we are going to do after exams, etcetera and so forth. Nice little chat and all, ended up lasting for fully half my tram ride.

Just one problem: I hadn't the faintest idea what the guy's name was. I still don't know what it is.

In fact, the only things I can recall about the man in question are that he lived on my floor at IH. And that he looked quite good shirtless.

(What, of course it's more important to remember what a guy looks like shirtless than what his name is. Duh. It's an inevitable consequence of communal co-ed bathrooms.)

Which made for an interesting start for the day. Everything seemed kind of dull from there on in.

Good thing about today: I found a decent, affordable curry place near Interning that didn't serve ridiculously bland food.

Bad thing about today: Instead it went the other way. Curry was hot. I swear, I drunk like a litre of water. Note to self: Be careful about the curries next time I have lunch there.

Anyway, over to fannishness.

FMA:B Dub cast announced! Which is... mostly the same as the first dub cast (With one or two notable changes). 'Course this is only the earliest main characters, so we don't yet know about Ling or Ran Fan or Mei, or any of the characters that haven't yet shown up in the Japanese airing. So I'll have to wait and see who gets Ling.

Anyone know when dub's going to come out?

On the Japanese airing, have seen the newest episode (LOL BOOT! EW ENVY!) and we are rapidly closing in on the bit where [spoiler] becomes [spoiler], which I greatly looking forward to. Partially because, you know, awesome, and partially because the reactions from the non-manga fans are going to be so worth a look.

Anyone know when the opening and endings are due to change? 'Cos it's closing in on that time, and I want to join the stream for the new ones.

The other bit of fannish activity has been with my newest fandom, AKA Code Geass (Yes, once more I am late to jump on the Internets Bandwagon). I will actually get round to talking about it properly, once my next anime reviews post goes up. Which may be a while. Sorry. But hi to the n00bs on my flist, since you're mostly Geass fans!

Anyhow, as of yesterday it was one year to date since the final episode aired, so cue upturn of activity. Not that it was busy busy, but a couple of long fics I followed got new chapters added, and Pixiv had an explosion of pretty, pretty fanart. Which I need an online translator to navigate, but hey! Shiny things!

And to tie this post up into a nice fannish bow, I bring you these two bits of Geass fanart, in which someone has drawn Lelouch and Nunnally... in the style of the current FMA:B ED (That'd be "Let It Out" for the folks playing at home).

Oh fannish synchronicity.
Signs that there is something fundamentally wrong with the universe: You witness your mother dancing to MmmBop. Just... no.

But yeah, otherwise The Sister's 21st was rather fun. Even if there were only about three people there I knew that I wasn't actually related to. But it was still fun (Though some of the photos are probably going to be interesting).

And I actually got to have a chat about anime with the Sister's BFF whom I haven't seen in years. Which was interesting!

Incidentally, more parties should end with group balloon stompings.

In other news, today's interning wasn't nearly as cracktastic. Though I did get to check out the teeniest meeting room ever.

On the plus side, FMA Chapter 99 scanlations finally came out. So now I know precisely what the HOLY SHIT EPIC stuff going on is.

...Which is indeed HOLY SHIT EPIC! Fu ;_; Also OH SHIT SON, THEY EXPECT US TO WAIT AN ENTIRE MONTH TO RESOLVE THAT CLIFFHANGER?

Evil. Pure evil.

So today during interning there was a SURPRISE DEPARTMENT MEETING in which I had to do a SURPRISE PRESENTATION of just what it is I am doing. Joy and wonderment.

Though I am now trying to decide which sort of public speaking I dislike more. The impromptu kind, which results in flailing and panic at not having anything prepared, and so screwing up when you get asked questions. Or the prepared kind, in which you have an extended period of time to get nervous about. And yet when we are doing group discussions on something I have an interest in, I am entirely capable of taking over the entire conversation, no problems. Weird.

Oh, and the fire alarm went off. But it was a false alarm, so we didn't have to evacuate. Whatever were those people on the 20th floor doing?

Afterwards, I went and met up with Allan on account of some random texting, and witnessed his hilarious failure at dumplings.

Seriously, there were epic amounts of fail. It was glorious.

Oh, and we had some exceedingly random conversations about using Hobos to teleport to Coburg (Don't ask), and Allan made this oh so charming quote: "It's like one of those army sticks, but with a woman attached."

...Yeah, this just reminds me that I need to spend more time with friends having conversations about this sort of random insanity.
And the daily dose of Interning Absurdity for today consisted of this one paper I found, which was all about how chartered accountants used Twitter.

Which is not quite as LOLworthy as some of the stuff I've mentioned previously, but was rather amusing to stumble across.

Incidentally, there was wine at Interning. Why? I don't know.

But I think anyone who knows how I deal with alcohol can guess how that went. Especially considering the whole red wine + not having eaten for hours + my epic lightweightness equation.

Aren't I lucky the only thing I was still doing at that point was checking my email.
And the winner of today's LOL WOT moment has to go to when I was reading through an OECD report whilst interning... and it started talking about Harry Potter fanfic. On Fanfiction.net.

I just... what. What.

I think I spent the next five minutes just staring at the computer screen, trying to not to start cackling uncontrollably.

Interning: Crackier than thou.

Incidentally, apparently The Sister's 21st (Which is in, like, two weekends) is actually a costume party. Theme: Holidays (You know, Christmas, Easter, Halloween etc).

What to wear, what to wear...
So day two of interning was Saturday. Which was ...interesting. Mostly interesting in that my supervisor wasn't there, so I spent far too much of the day bot entirely certain I was doing what I was supposed to. Alas. Also, there wasn't any birthday cake today.

On the plus side, I can actually log into my computer today, so yay for that. Also some of the articles I read were kinda interesting.

...I think I need a more interesting life right now. Given I can't think of much to write, either here or for Creative Writing. Any suggestions, anyone?

Oh, and happy 21st to The Sister. Not that she reads this at all.
Well that was a busy-ish type week thing. (Shush, I'm tired, it's spazzifying my use of language).

Firstly, since it's most important: Yesterday my interning started! I have my own desk and swipey card and everything! Okay, so not everything, since by the end of the day my computer log-in still wasn't working, but hey, it's a start.

Of course, this did mean that all I did in the morning was read lots of statistics reports on Internet usage, and all I did in the afternoon was look for research papers about Internet usage.

But hey, it's a start. And I got cake since it was someone's birthday.

...And then I got utterly drenched because the weather was shocking on the way home.

Other things what I have done lately included going to Manifest on Sunday. Which was fun, but I think I need to know more people - or maybe do what I did last time, and latch onto some friendly cosplayers. I had a nice chat with a Suzaku, but he wandered off to take pictures of people

But I bought some stuff - lots of keyrings, so I basically have a collection now. And a couple of DVDs, but I really need to find a new series or two to look out for (that actually has box-sets out, argh). And some jewellery. Oh, and a plushy syphilis.

Cosplay was awesome to look at, and made me wish I could sew, woe. That said, I did get a bunch of people ask to get a picture of what I was wearing - which was kinda odd, since it wasn't that much different from what I'd wear to a party. Except with fishnets instead of coloured tights. Incidentally, all the people who took pictures of me were guys, and I am not taking that thought any further. I haven't seen me in any Manifest galleries...

Oh, and in Radical Fiction today we somehow ended up talking about fanfiction. And it got to the point where we were asked to come up with suggestions for radical Harry Potter fanfic (and I was asked to judge).

I think someone's suggest of having Harry be a "rapey midget" sorta won.

...It's not quite Wednesday Weirdness, but Creative Writing does seem to be keeping up it's tradition of having exceptional weird conversations.
So, I start my Interning next week! \o/

...Though does mean I shall have to buy some more, erm, professional looking clothes. Alas for my crazy-arse wardrobe.

Also: 9am starts once more, alas.

In other news, apparently the new Japanese FMA game whatsits features, amongst other things, Ed dancing. Which is hilariously awesome. Or possibly awesomely hilarious.
So the people I applied for an internship with have gotten back to me. Finally.

But hey, I meet up with them on Tuesday. And, yeah, things are looking rather positive.

Which is pleasing, what with the whole course credit riding on it and all. And I was just about to get all panicky at my subject co-ordinator.

...Yeah, I just posted because this icon makes me laugh.
Well, wonders never cease. Apparently for once in my life all my bitching and moaning has actually paid off, and my timetable is finally sorted out. And I no longer have any 9am classes, score! Truly, the current arrangement is a masterwork.

Of course the downside to all this seems to be that club stuff may be a mite impossible for me to attend, what with two 1pm lectures and one seminar that is at 1pm for the weeks it runs. Sigh. But you can't have everything your own way, I suppose.

...Now I just need to hear back from my Internship person, and I'll be all set.
