Hey, I saw those lions when I was in Las Vegas! Or at least similar looking lions in that same enclosure. They were a bit less bitey then, though.

Since RL is being less than productive at the moment (As in during the last two weeks I have achieved 4 "Thanks but no thanks" responses to job applications, and not much else), excluding the social life - party last Friday, getting to see the Tim Burton exhibition with family on Saturday, housewarming for [livejournal.com profile] fa11ing_away this weekend - have some fandomness:

- FMA Gaiden! Not yet translated, but it looks short but cute.
- Also FMA, this hilarious news from a couple of weeks back. Spoilers if you haven't finished the manga. I would totally have said yes, though.
- We still don't know anything about this upcoming FMA movie, though.
- On the other hand, news about the Code Geass Gaiden was less newsworthy. Interesting discussion in the comments, though.
- ...Yeah, that's about it. I do need to catch up on Futurama, though. And work my way through my anime To Watch list.

My random out of print CD I bought off eBay seems to have arrived fine? Yeah, I think I need better things to talk about. I also have a free icon space. Now, where do the nifty icons hang out...

ETA: Oh wow, Australian music from the start of the decade. The only time I've ever heard rap mentioning Cheryl Kernot.
WELL, IT'S ABOUT DAMNED TIME!

(Yes, we finally have a government. And it isn't Tony Abbott. I feel this is worth celebrating.)

Twitter has been entertaining for the last half hour, I'll say that much...

Guess who has the new Terry Pratchett book! :D:D

I shall be continuing my reading of I Shall Wear Midnight as soon as I finish writing up this post. (Because Pratchett books > early nights, obviously).

Anyway, just thought I'd drop a few random entertaining links in.

Firstly, a very useful website right now: http://doesaustraliahaveagovernmentyet.com/

And while we are on the topic, the history of the last few decades of Australian politics... told in the form of Pokemon. Or "Polliemon" to quote the YouTube vid.

Now for something completely different, A bit of Code Geass LOL WOT I found on NicoNico. I think it's the Zero in the background that really makes it.
And so I am now an official university graduate. With fancy certificates - two of 'em - and everything.

...That said, apart from 30 seconds or so of momentousness as I walked across the stage, it wasn't exactly the most exciting event ever. Yeah, it was mostly watching people I don't know also get their certificates.

On the vaguely entertaining side, there was one girl graduating named Xiao Mei to my amusement (FMA fans will get why). Oh, and our speaker was some guy named Ziggy, which is more evidence that I am being haunted by David Bowie songs.

But there were photos and flowers (still need to find a proper vase for them) and meeting up with teh family.

As for the other significant part of today: Election! Though final results are yet to come through, so I don't know how I am supposed to feel yet.

That said, I hear the Cthulu summoners had some success. Or something along those lines, which is a nice change.

Incidentally, after reading the Greens slogan on a How To Vote card, "Standing for what's right, not just what's easy", I now think their election strategy has been obtained via reading Harry Potter books.

There are worse sources of inspiration, I suppose.

ETA: And then there is this which sort of defies words, really.
So, election on August 21st.

On the plus side, I will actually be in Australia on that day. On the other hand, that's one of the days that Manifest is running (and it also might end up being the day I graduate, details pending). Which would be... interesting.

Anyhow, I have almost finished packing. By which I mean I am still trying to work out what jewellery (and other accessories) to bring, but otherwise I am pretty much done. Unless I have forgotten anything. :/

A replacement for LoudTwitter has been found! And actually seems to work so far. Or you could just follow my Tweets Of America while it lasts. Unlike the other trips, where I didn't have much Internet access, I should be able to get online a lot more frequently in the US. I will, however, continue tweeting about whatever random stuff that happens to me.

And that's me, signing off for a little while. Flight leaves for tomorrow morning, which means I'll only get a short time tomorrow online. Then I'm scheduled to travel back in time - no, really, my stopover in San Franciso is technically earlier than the time I leave Australia - and arrive in America. And get to Philadelphia in the middle of the night.

Now I need to finish off my packing and then get a decent night's sleep, but until then, guys!

Let me know if fandom explodes or anything particularly dramatic happens.
So we did end up getting Prime Minister Gillard. That was rather quick. Hopefully she'll do a good job. Though she's still preferable to Tony bloody Abbott.

So today I went out and had Mexican for dinner with some people for a short-notice birthday dinner of a Facebook friend. Which was nice (if a little pricey), but hey, I always like me some Mexican food.

Afterwards, since it finished early and most people were off to other events, I wanted to go to the movies while I was in town and see Toy Story 3 before I got spoiled. Sadly, the stupid cinema didn't have a another showing for two hours, and I didn't fancy hanging around the city on my own with nothing to do for that long.

Speaking of which anyone want to come see Toy Story 3 with me on Tuesday? Or Monday if you want to go to Nova on Lygon Street - either day should have some cheaper tickets available, and it can be 3D or not 3D, whatever people feel like.

I'll probably go see it by myself if no-one else wants to come along, but I think it'd be fun as a group.

And in other news, check out the real life automail kitty!
So. The Leadership Challenge.

Does this mean we could have Prime Minister Gillard tomorrow?

...I am in favour of this development.

I am also amused that Julia Gillard is trending higher than the World Cup on Twitter right now.
Someone threw a boot at John Howard?

Why did no one tell me about this earlier? That's hilarious! Pity no-one got it on film (or that it was apparently a fairly bad throw).

...Let me have my petty amusements, okay?

Also, I have apparently filled up my iPod. (Well, pretty much. It's 80 gig and I have only 50MB space left, so...)

Which is rather impressive. And kind of scary. But hey, it means I have 16,126 songs which I can carry around with me to listen to whenever I please.

...Yeah, that's a lot of music.
AMERICA, I HEAR YOU HAS A SHINY NEW PRESIDENT!

\o/

And I stayed up to 4:30am to hear his speech.
Thing that totally made my day: Dude throwing shoes at Dubya Bush.

There are just... so many ways in which that is brilliant, I couldn't even begin to count them.

Oh, American politics. You've been ridiculously hilarious this year.

In other news, flist I need your help. I need to come up with a list of things to ask my family for for Christmas.

This, incidentally is not a thing I am good at. At all.

My list, so far, consists of the following:

1. The Dark Knight DVD.
2. New memory card for my camera.

...and that's it. Though I have a great big list of stuff I am planning to buy myself - comics and manga and anime - it's not really the sort of stuff you could expect to find easily in Western Victoria.

So, flist, help me come up with stuff to ask for! The only requirements are that it be not too obscure, or from anywhere postage. Oh, and that it's not anything, you know, major. Mum is paying for Egypt, after all.

You truly cannot make this shit up.

SO I HEARD YOU HAS A SHINY NEW PRESIDENT...

\o/

Go You! Plz enjoy your shiny new President Obama.

And now I need to go hand in my assignment
So, Howard has finally gone and called the election (For November 24th, to be precise). It's about damned time, really.

At least that means we know when the whole thing will be over and done with.

In other news, I seem to be attracting randoms on FaceBook. By which I mean I seem to be currently getting a number of messages, comments, pokes and friend requests from a whole lot of people who I've never freaking heard of.

It is exceedingly random. Especially given some of the messages I'm getting...
