ZOMG! [livejournal.com profile] deu_sex_machina is back, and calling for new fics to be sporked! *is full of flaily goodness*

Also, I've heard some (very, very minor) spoilers for Fear Her. I think I may be rather looking forward to this episode.

In any case, the nest two eps both look like they are going to get certain different sections of fandom in an uproar. Hurrah! (My new fandom motto: Bring on the backlash)

Since it's all stuff anyone who is one the OG cam see, sure:

(Quoted from review-type things, and there's more, but I'm listing the ones that interested me)

The Doctor tells a shocked Rose that "I was a dad once".

At the end, the Doctor warns Rose against thinking they'll be together forever...he can sense a storm coming!

heheheheh

Why do I think that "I was a dad once" is saying she should forget him being the father of her children?

And yes, it does sound like there will be wank after that episode.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I'm pretty certain that's because the episode is dealing with a child with unusal powers. And apparently Rose doesn't comment on it, but you can tell she really wants to.

I can't wait! *gleeful*

Heee. Ditto! The wank will be marvellous!

I dislike the OG, because decent stuff is hard to find. As a bonus, they do tend to have moments of cracked-out fun, though.

He was a dad once, yes. I love this. And I kind of want to see what new-schoolers will make of this information. Mind you, if it's because she's propositioned him and is shocked by his reaction, or she's shocked by how good he is with kids, or she's speculating about her having kids with him... *gag*

Ah, good. Everything ends, and nothing does. Companions leave, dammit. Mind you, the storm part's interesting. Clearly, he's sensing a conflict of interests, or fate really suggesting that Rose is in danger. You should post relevant stuff to the comm, so people can speculate. :)

Also, is there a link? I end up wading through pages of annoying stuff whenever I go to look through OG.

The thread it's in is found here. First post, and also in no 24.

And as far as I know, the episode is to do with a kid with weird powers, and her mother freaking, so I'm guessing context is somewhere in that. It's apparently just a throw-away line from the Doctor, and Rose doesn't comment on it, but you tell she wants to, apparently.

And I am muchly looking forward to seeing what the shippers make of that. And for that matter the asexualists.

I can't comment on the final stuff until I've seen the context, but it seems pretty certain it's set-up for the finale.

Ooh! Ooh! Can I make a bet guess?

Shippers: "It's okay. It was another country, and besides the wench is dead." (But cue a LOT of fic where Rose was somehow the mother, and where Rose asks him about it in that way that they never do.)

Asexualists: "Ah! But! A dad is not necessarily a father in the biological sense. And even then he could have grown it in a vat." (Cue belief that the kid could have been adopted and that how nothing short of the Doctor saying "I had sex with a woman and impregnated her in the normal way with which the viewer is likely familiar" will confirm he's a biological father.)

I agree on the asking about it fic. Which has a positive in that the not-so-crazy shippers might do a bit of research on Susan and all, and so we could get some nice old schoolish refs. But I refuse to read any fic in which Rose is the mother.

People have already tried to bring Miranda into it.

...The fact I know who she is scares me slightly.

Yah. I think it's the fact that I've read one EDA and know this that bothers me.

Throwaway lines are good. Means great fun and confusion for newbies.

And asexualists... it was his stage of puberty. That, or he's referring to his adoption of Susan, and how he had to act as her dad. They have it easy. The shippers have to wonder who the Doctor had a kid with, and the possibility that he might have love someone else deeply enough for that.

Still, I don't relish the thought of the badfic that will occur.

Yay for setup.

If there is a single fic in which a shipper claims it was because he was young and stupid, and he didn't love the mother at all (because only Rose is his TWU WUV), I shall commit murder. Seriously.

I now want a story where Rose confronts the Doctor, doesn't believe it, and gets dumped on Gallifrey to see for herself. And One takes her back in the stolen TARDIS, thus being annoyingly recursive.

But not really.

Word on that, though. I will cry blood tears.

Ooh, interesting. And we obviously saw [livejournal.com profile] deu_sex_machina's post at the same time, my squee is just under yours, heh.

Speaking of spoilers, I just found those Idiot's Lantern spoilers you emailed me ages ago. Amusing to read in hindsight--sounds like some lines got cut. Also describes seeing plans for "a moonbase" which I'm assuming was from TIP/TSP. There are still a couple in there that haven't been seen yet, too.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I had completely forgotten about those spoilers, I had to go dig up the file to see what it said. And he was paraphrasing, so some of the lines mightn't have been down correctly, and they did sound vaguely similar to what we got. But we'll have to wait and see for the rest.

True, but he doesn't mention Burma in the final ep we saw we got, does he? That was the one I was specifically thinking about. And I doubt the OP just made up "Burma", since one of his medals actually was the Burma Star.

We got something similar later (and it was better there than it would have been in the opening scene. The camera angle on the medals was just enough, I think.)
