Yarr! Happy Talk Like A Pirate Day, scurvies! Because if ever there was an international day worth celebrating, this would be it, savvy?

Look, even the transport is in on it!

In any case, to celebrate, I went out to [livejournal.com profile] jess_with_a_hat's Pirate Party last night, in which we celebrated in a suitably piratical fashion, ie. with rum.

But twas much fun. I headed over there with [livejournal.com profile] fa11ing_away, me in full piratey outfit (I have photos), and we picked up [livejournal.com profile] absurd along the way.

Highlights of the evening included: The highly amusing Twister game (how can anyone not love a game that leads to copious remarks about the man with his head between a lesbian's thighs?); The game of werewolf, which was rapidly renamed "Pirates and Ninjas"; the fun costumes; [livejournal.com profile] blinvisible demonstrating some fire twirling; lots of rum; the failed chocolate fondue, that ended up tasting awfully chocolate truffle-like; the mutant strawberry and lots of other random silliness.

Some quotes (from our Pirates and Ninjas game):

[livejournal.com profile] chifley: "I think you'll find all my sides are camp... Dance, eyebrows, dance!"

[livejournal.com profile] de_chel: "Everyone is bored! The mod is reading Dolly Doctor! Chifley is reading Dolly!"

Me, all pirated up. Chek out the hat! *loves hat*

And some other pirate costumes (I didn't get everyone's sadly. Donations of photos, plz?)

...And that was last night.

Now, this evening was the Jasper Fforde book signing. So, I turned up at Dymocks in the city and spent an hour listening to dear Jasper talk about his books, himself and general stuffs of amusement, which was lots of fun. Yay Jasper!

And after that, I got copies of both The Big Over Easy and The Fourth Bear signed, which means now that half my Jasper Fforde collection is signed. Which amused me muchly.

And after that I went off with [livejournal.com profile] saikogrrl and friend for some Japanese for dinner. (But not before purchasing Witches Abroad, to complete my Discworld collection, and American Gods, because I need to read more Neil Gaiman).

So, yeah, fun night! Argh!

ETA: And LiveJournal is in on the act. Awesome!

There is nothing cooler than Pirates. Well, maybe Ninjas come close. But it's a tight match. There is nothing cooler than Pirates. Amen.

...Shiver me timbers, Yo ho, yo ho, a Pirate's life for me! *making the most of the last 52 minutes of this special special day*.

There is nothing cooler than Pirates. FACT.

*joins in the singing* Yo ho, yo ho...

My boyfriend thinks he's a ninja. And that he has a host of ninjas ready to jump out and do whatever needs to be done. And that the Connex ticket inspectors are ninjas. Possibly even John So as well.

...

There are many a ninja around.

Is? Is many a ninja? Are? Am?

I can smell yummy biscuits of yum. *can't wait until said biscuits are ready*

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I must admit, I am ignorant as to how one refers to ninjas in a grammatically correct fashion.

No, it's never been hugely high on my, 'Important things to know' list, either. And then along comes a situation when I need to know it, and my lack of interest bites me in the arse. Oh, fates, why?

Ha, the eyebrows quote made me splutter red wine over my keyboard, because I'm such a classy bint ^^,

We drank it all last night so it's the only alcohol i have left in the house *cries*
But it is alcohol nonetheless! Mwahaha! Drunken LJ commenting for the win!

From: [identity profile] fa11ing-away.livejournal.com

just an eye?
*tries to raise an eyebrow and fails hideously*

listen, do you really think that any pirate would know back any alcohol, especially of the commandeered variety, even if it's not rum?

Hahahahaha yeah, I laughed out loud when I saw the 'Update Captain's Log' button. And on the Profile page instead of Friends it says Mateys! XD

I was rather amused by that myself. Gotta love LJ getting into the spirit of things.

That looked like a fun party.

American Gods is a great book. I didn't know what to expect when I first started. It starts kinda slow, but is very very good.

It was a good party.

And I've been meaning to read it for a while. The fact I was actually in a bookstore sort of decided things for me.

That be a nice shiny cutlass you have there, yarrrrr!

p.s. That strawberry is wrong, wrong I tells you!

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

'Twas a borrowed cutlass, to be precise.

(It is a freak of nature, that strawberry. I half expected it had been genetically modified, and had all sorts of odd genes)
