And the Press for The Runaway Bride has begun.... Yes, it's just a couple of moments in the Beebs Christmas promotions. But still, they look mightily cool. (I have to say, I very much like Euros Lyn as a director. But if the rest of the ep looks as good as these clips, kudos to the design people)

Note to self: Get some new icons.

I'm starting to feel the hype, and it's quite wonderful. For all people can bitch and moan about certain aspects of Doctor Who (and I'm including myself in "people"), I adore the way it makes me feel like a kid again.

It's just... It's December now, and Christmas is coming. Like, really, instead of just the weird way early Christmas stuff that shops seem to go in for.

Is anyone else feeling ecstatically happy for no apparent reason? Or is it just me?

In any case, it's a rather wonderful feeling. I'm bouncing off the walls. (rather more literally than one might expect...)

Euros Lyn is made of Win. **insert shameless GitFace rhapodizing, rinse lather repeat**. He also seems to be one of the few people who tries to make the inside of the TARDIS look warm and magical instead of slathering lurid green light on people's faces every damn episode. Win win win.

Hey, I can totally get behind the GitF rhapsodising. But yes, I agree with you on the lighting. A few people have commented as such over on Teh OG. (Where there are some brilliant screencaps, hence the icon wantage)

That said, the overdone green worked well when Tennant was dancing around the console during Rose's monologue in Army of Ghosts. It looked... otherworldly.

I swear, the lighting will make or break an episode. Tooth and Claw? Satan Pit? Unquiet Dead? That little extra oomph.

Agree on the green in that instance -- it fit in nicely with the opening to New Earth too, come to think of it. Didn't like it in School Reunion, though; that just looked weird.

I haven't seen Unquiet Dead in an age, because it's not exactly one of my fave episodes, but I definitely agree on the other too. Awesome lighting. I think I recall style!squee after I initially saw Tooth and Claw.

School Reunion was a little too dark, I think. It wasn't the colour, it was the dimness of it.

Unquiet Dead coasted on ambiance. Tho now I hafta observe School Reunion.

I just... don't think Gatiss's epsiodes work that well for me. I find them a little dull.

Also, on the subject of lighting, a comment I grabbed from the trailer screencap thread at Teh OG:

"Ernie Vinze(sic?) lit the first series but on series two he shared the lighting job with Rory Taylor (who lit all the Euros Lyn directed episodes and Love and Monsters, plus the children in need special). Taylor has done the lighting for The Christmas Special I would imagine. Vinze tends to light the TARDIS with green and orange but Taylor tends to go for a much brighter almost golden look."

Goldeny and Christmassy, right. Yay Rory!

Gatiss's offerings were dull. But very well-lit.

I saw it onna telly last night and made very undignified sounds of fangirl squee.

I wish I was in the UK and could see this stuff on the telly, rather than through stealthy means.

OMG! I wasn't all that excited until I saw that, but now I'm bouncing up and down like a little kid!
