drakyndra: The Music Meister demands you sing! (Sad Wall Doctor)
( Dec. 22nd, 2006 09:23 pm)
So, tomorrow morning - early tomorrow morning, what with the "It's actually an AM" thing - I shall be heading off home to the farm and all. So, I shall be people adieu until Boxing Day, as I shall be away from Teh Intarweb, as well as decent mobile coverage for that matter.

Originally, I was going to post a Links List here as a Chrissie present. But I haven't gotten much of it done. Oops? I blame the heat, personally. It's making me lazy and tired. Oh well.

Got some more Chrissie cards from assorted people, and some chocolate and a home-made necklace from [livejournal.com profile] fa11ing_away. I have promised to get her something from Hamilton (No, not a sheep).

In any case, over the next few days, I shall miss the inevitable lot of HP Book 7 title wank (at least the early doses), the final bit of pre-Runaway Bride hype, the next episode of Torchwood, the intial Runaway Bride (and S3 trailer) reaction and the... Melbourne-ness of Melbourne.

Anyone spoil me for anything before I see it, and I'll kill you. ;)

So, must finish packing. Until Tuesday evening, toodles!

So, [livejournal.com profile] altheas moved out of the iPartment today. Well, that's one down. I hope he likes his new place and has a good housewarming party

As for me, today was Christmas shopping for Teh Family. If anyone's wondering, I'll be getting the train to Hamilton on Saturday morning, and coming back some time on Boxing Day. Between those times, I probably won't be answering my phone, because reception on the farm sucks like an almightily sucky sucking thing.

In any case, wandered round the city fora bit, and then headed over to the DFO on Spencer Street. Which was quite good, actually, if still unfinished. Also, there were people outside the station giving out free milk.

And after that I wandered up to the Night Market. Which was very, very busy.

So, shopping for the family (and a little for me - got a lovely 60s dress, and some shoe) is done.

Actually, while at the Vic Market I ran into to some old school friends - Gabby and Laura - whom I haven't seen since, ooh, 2003 I think. Which was bizarre, really - I turned around after paying for my juice, and there they were. So, we caught up for a bit, until they started packing up the market chairs, and I heard some of the goss.

It's strange how these things happen, truly.

On a fandomly note, anyone in Doctor Who fandom is probably aware that we've had an invasion of Runaway Bride spoilers (since the press screening was Monday), so I shan't bother to link to any of that stuff. Instead, I'll suggest heading over to Fandom Wank and OTF Wank which have had a flurry of good wanks in the past week or so (including a Doctor Who wank. Again)

It so figures that just one day after I email CDUniverse asking why the CDs I ordered were taking so long to arrive, they actually show up.

It's like that thing how that as soon as you buy a replacement, the original shows up.

Still, they are here now, which makes me happy. Am currently listening to Gogol Bordello which is so very made of awesome.

Also, thankies to [livejournal.com profile] rhipowered and [livejournal.com profile] darth_corrie, from whom Chrissie cards have arrived. Huzzah!

So, my cards and pressies have been sent off to people - well, most have been, I ran out of cards and had to buy some more. Yeah, I know, it's late - most of the stuff is unlikely to arrive before Christmas. For which, I apologise to people. At least it means the Christmas Day won't be the end of getting stuffs...

I started mentally constructing some Doctor Who meta today, in regards to Freema Agyeman. And then I realised I was projecting my own issues onto it, so it got scrapped. And then I started trying to redo it, and realised that that version was half theorising that mightn't end up true. So meta got ditched - though I might pick it up again come series three (when I have fact, rather than speculation to work with).

And I need to sort out plans for changeover of housemates, and Christmas. Egads. At least our lease has been renewed for next year.
So, VCE results are out today. I got a text from The Sister regarding her results: Apparently she got an ENTER of 87.55 which she is happy with (and she didn't get below a B on any of her exams), so good on her. Next thing: Uni places.

The family will be in Melbourne this week for her interview at Monash, and at one of the Colleges at Melbourne Uni. By then I shall hopeful come up with a Christmas list that consists of more than just "laptop".

On that subject, Christmas lunch shall be at Warrnambool this year. I'm currently trying to work out how long to be down there for. What's going on, socially, in the Christmas til New Year period, anyone?

In other news type stuffs, [livejournal.com profile] altheas is going to be moving out of the iPartment by the end of the month, so [livejournal.com profile] fa11ing_away and I shall be requiring a new housemate. And a new microwave. Any second floor types need a place to live, feel free to contact me, and I can give you some more information.
Firstly, much thankness to [livejournal.com profile] kniblet and [livejournal.com profile] dibsy, whose present arrived today. I am now posess a copy of The Time-Traveller's Wife, and several blocks of rather fascinatingly flavoured chocolate.

Toddled into Uni to do my stuffs. Got signed up to the Union (though held out on photo until next week. Funnily enough, next week is when I have a hairdresser's appointment.)

The city was really very busy today. Which figures, you know, what with Christmas shopping and all. Oh, and the fact that today was the opening of the Krispy Kreme at Melbourne Central (I was amazed at how busy it was when I walked past. It's a doughnut place!)

In any case, quite a bit of my shopping was done, but not all. I have one or two things to finish off, which I shall do over the weekend.

Oh, and for those who are interested, JB Hi-Fi has the Doctor Who Series Two boxsets in - much cheaper than last year, as well. I picked up a copy, so that shall go onto my list of entertainment for later on

Also, I apparently have developed some weird magnetic influence over money. Or something. Every time I stood still, people nearby would drop coins. It was most peculiar.

Oh, and you know nothing of joy until you posess a stress strawberry. *squishes*

Finally, tomorrow is t-shirt painting with CHAS (Yes, I shall actually have to get up at a time that is AM. The horror...) If anyone has any suggestions for some amusing slogans to put on the shirts I bought, feel free to leave them in the comments here, and I'll take a look before I leave tomorrow morning.

A random link of amusement. Namely, an [livejournal.com profile] overheardinmelb entry that made me grin.
Another parcel arrived today - Pressies from [livejournal.com profile] misscam. Which consisted of some cute socks with Reindeer on them, and a silver rune pendant thing. Thanks, Cam!

...Which reminds me, I need to send my cards and whatnot off. That will have to be done on Monday, though - tomorrow will involve, you know buying gifts, and Friday I have both CHAS stuff and [livejournal.com profile] fa11ing_away's cocktail party. Oi, [livejournal.com profile] tinyteddyqueen, what time are you heading out to that, as I'll probably need a lift?

Tomorrow (I apologise for using my LJ as a to-do list):
- Drop in at Uni to sign up for the union while it's still discounted.
- Check a couple of subject things whilst at Uni
- In the city, to pick up some plain t-shirts for painting.
- Christmas presents for online types (and cards, if I haven't enough so far)
Feel free to drop me reminder links to your wishlists and/or addresses.

Also, plane tickets for Queensland have been booked. So, I'll be up there from the 1st until the 8th of February, if I recall correctly.

And random factoid from peeps at the OG who have seen the new DWM: Apparently for the New York episode, the director "and team" actually went over to New York to do some filming. Colour me impressed. Oh, and there's an apparent title for the Shakespeare episode.
I actually thought Torchwood was quite good this week. Colour me surprised.

The Beeb have been suppling some good stuff on their advent calender. The original Song for Ten the same day as the Soundtrack release - seems rather planned to me, must say.

Also, why is it that post-Doomsday reunion fic is always referred to as "fixing things"? Sorry dudes, canon isn't actually broken. It just went a direction you didn't like.

Oh, I have my parcel I was whinging about on the weekend. Turned out to be a bunch of Target novelisations I bought on eBay. Because it's not as if I don't have enough books already or anything. (I have, quite literally, run out of space on my bookshelf)

Also got another parcel, but it's contents shall not be mentioned, as the are possibly going to be used as Christmas presents. I'm still deciding whether I want to keep it for myself or not (though the seller did supply some lovely gift boxes...)

Oh, and the eBay kerfuffle of the other day appears to be resolved. I win, huzzah

Quote of the day (The day being, in fact, yesterday):
[livejournal.com profile] fa11ing_away: "It's too hot to live, let alone wear pants!"

Oh, and over at Teh OG, I am having a 2000th post party. Other members, feel free to drop in and join the celebrations. Yes, it's a party celebrating my lack of life outside the internet, what can one do?

And the Press for The Runaway Bride has begun.... Yes, it's just a couple of moments in the Beebs Christmas promotions. But still, they look mightily cool. (I have to say, I very much like Euros Lyn as a director. But if the rest of the ep looks as good as these clips, kudos to the design people)

Note to self: Get some new icons.

I'm starting to feel the hype, and it's quite wonderful. For all people can bitch and moan about certain aspects of Doctor Who (and I'm including myself in "people"), I adore the way it makes me feel like a kid again.

It's just... It's December now, and Christmas is coming. Like, really, instead of just the weird way early Christmas stuff that shops seem to go in for.

Is anyone else feeling ecstatically happy for no apparent reason? Or is it just me?

In any case, it's a rather wonderful feeling. I'm bouncing off the walls. (rather more literally than one might expect...)

Reasons to dislike this weekend: I can't find out what this parcel I supposedly have is until Monday. I mean, where's the fun in getting mail if you can't open it?

In other news, I am being evil to someone on eBay. Well, not so much evil as irritatingly pedantic and law-abiding. (Long story short: I bought multiple items from one guy, and due to I mix up, I ended up paying for one of the items individually, as well as the group in total. I asked to refund that one item's cost. He refused. I am now trying to force him to give me my refund)

I get to send him PayPal invoices, and threaten to contact eBay about over-charging me. Not that it's a particularly huge amount of money or anything but, you know, it's a matter of principle.

It's actually quite fun.

(That said, I suspect that the only reason I'm having such fun with it is because it is only, relatively speaking, a small amount of money, and not getting the refund wouldn't bother me. If it was more money, I think it'd be less fun, and more anger-making)

Also: Marshmallow spread. One of the strangest and most wonderful foodstuffs to be found at my local supermarket.

On a fannish note: The Official Doctor Who site has an advent calender counting down until Christmas. With goodies each day such as wallpapers. I am intrigued by what might show up.

Also, according to sources In The Know at the OG, Runaway Bride pictures are embargoed until Tuesday (why no new DWM cover has been unveiled yet). So expect the press stuff to hot up from then.

Also, if "your heart is crying so much I think that it's dying" because a soundtrack album doesn't have the version of a song you like, you are possibly investing a little too much into things.
