Weird. For some completely unknown reason, I seem to be saying "Dude" quite frequently at the moment. And I haven't a freaking clue why, or where on earth it came from. 'Tis quite strange.

Also, on randomness:
I got my first text message from sister in absolutely ages the other day. And it said, in it's entirety (and spelled exactly like this):

Hey there, big sis do u know about "the hitchhikers guide 2 the galaxy" movie? I spose u will c it as soon as it cums out. Morbo is hotness

Which brings randomness to a new level. I mean, she contacts me about a movie I've known about for ages (note: my sister knows absolutely nothing about H2G2, despite my best efforts all through the summer holidays). And that's it. At least she knows my interests...
And the "Morbo is hotness" thing - courtesy of some extremely random Futurama conversations that we have had. Though I am still quite disturbed by it...

Oh, and one sign of just how far gone I really am these days:
So, I finish question 2 on my programming assignment (note to self: do more work on said assignmnet), and it is actually working properly.
My reaction: w00t. I actually say w00t out loud. How very, very wrong...
And what is even more disturbing is when I tell the lab supervisor I got the question right, his response is also to say w00t.

Be afraid, be very afraid...

Random Quote:
[livejournal.com profile] becker_: Wow! 5 AM has a smell now?

Random Dinner Conversation:
(2 girls are talking about sewing - one says she'll show the other her sewing machine)
First Guy: "Hey, dodgy pick-up lines: Can I see your sewing machine?"
Second Guy: "No, for a guy it would be like, want to see my needle?"

Which lead to me having odd thoughts about modern-day seamstresses.

Now must go and do Psych lab report...

Go the Douglas Adams reading! Though I have to agree, Mostly Harmless does get rather dark. Am trying to remember what Salmon of Doubt was like.

If you think the w00t thing sounds scary, you try being there...

Not at all. The undies were found in the IH computer lab (at college), the w00t thing went on at the Info Tech building on campus...

I see.

On the general topic of things I can't remember whether I've told you or not - I've seen The Devil's Hands episode of Futurama. And, next time you're in a book shop, try to find: "Tolkien's Gown and other stories of great authors and rare books", by Rick Gekoski. The final chapter is about Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, and the author is pretty harsh towards J. K. Rowling.

Devil's Hands = good episode. Very amusing. Plus, singing!

Hmmm, a book ragging out JKR. I am intrigued. What sort of stuff does it say about her?

From: [identity profile] aeque.livejournal.com

Basically, it says that she's not that great - he says something like "Tolkien was good, Rowling is not - they're incomparable", and seems to imply that she doesn't deserve her great success.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Yeah, but unlike Tolkien, you can can read Rowling and actually have fun at the same time.

Note: I don't hate Tolkien. I just think he is over-rated. Great story, but lousy writing style - it just drags on and on and on...

I know exactly what you mean - I tried reading Return of The King, but it was just so boring...
I only really like The Hobbit, because it's a much simpler story.

That said, Rowling's books aren't my favourites, but I still like to read them.

(In case you were wondering, my favourite book is Yoss, by Odo Hirsch.)

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I haven't read The Hobbit in so long, so my memories of it are a bit blah, though as far as I can recall, it was better than the LotR books.

Rowling isn't my favourite either, though she is still up near the top of the list.

And I haven't read Yoss, so I can't comment on it.

A friend of mine has a counter that says how long until the next HP - it must be 78 or so days by now.

By the way - have you read any of Ender's Game yet? I gave you a link the other day where you could find it in .pdf form.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I have been rather busy as of late, dear. So not yet.

I'll probably grab a whole lot of those stories from that link after my mid-year exams are done.

From: [identity profile] aeque.livejournal.com

Yeah - I've been meaning to get that Farenheit 451 from there, but I'm busy too.

Although, I'm still looking through the Robert Jordan ones I downloaded - I'd like to finish reading that series one day.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Oh no! Not Robert Jordan!

What was the address again, I need to add it to my favourites?

From: [identity profile] aeque.livejournal.com

I know - Robert Jordan's books are way too long by now, but I can't abandon the series... again.

Here's the link for the books:

Wow - I was just looking through the link site, and I found one that looks really good:

'Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven" As Read by The Man (a.k.a. Christopher Walken)'

I'm downloading it now.

From: [identity profile] aeque.livejournal.com

Now I've listened to it - it's actually a pretty good reading.

Although Walken sounds nothing like what the parodies I've seen have led me to believe.
