Firstly, to my friends and flistees of the Melbourne variety, would anyone be interested in coming to see The Dark Knight with me next week?

I'd probably have to book tickets this weekend if we want to see it on the first day, but anyone who's interested:

Wednesday next week (ie. the 16th). Sessions are at 6:15, 8:30 and 9:30 - or we could go in the afternoon.

Let me know, plz, as I quite want to see it before the comms I lurk at explode with spoilers.

While I'm on the subject of Batman, reasons why Jack Harkness is Batman... and the comment thread is filled with people debating what that makes other Torchwood and Doctor Who characters (The debate on Ianto is especially amusing).

Oh, and speaking of superheroes, I went and saw Hancock today - that Will Smith thing. Which was... interesting. I wouldn't call it bad, per se, but it had the distinct feeling that two entirely different movies had been smushed together. And I liked the "PR Guy helps a dodgy superhero clean up his act in a realistic world" one rather more than the other.

And back to your regularly scheduled fandom.

I am filled with epic amounts of OMG SQUEE for the recent SJA casting spoilers. I also hope that it means something for the future of Doctor Who, too.

And to be somewhat selfish, I've started a Masterlist for post Series Four fic that features Martha in a significant way. However, it's impossible for me to check everywhere for suitable fic, so if you know of any relevent fics please drop me a line.

Feel free to pimp that list everywhere and anywhere you so desire. The more people who see it and drop links, the easier maintaining it will be.

That SJA spoiler caused MAJOR amounts of squee around my LJ yesterday when I posted it - which was terrific fun after all the gloom of the weekend/beginning of the week!

I want SPOILER plus Ten plus Martha in an SJA ep at once - although the universe would probably implode at the sheer awesomeness of those three PLUS SJS in one episode! (Ah, who cares, we can always build another universe, right?!) :D

I'd heard rumours a while back, and was up far too late the other day waiting for people to upload their photos on the DWF.

That would be nifty. Though I am still hoping one of the specials is about UNIT, with Martha and SPOILER guest starring.

...I can still dream...

I share your dream - that would be completely awesome!

- seeing your icon, reminds me that someone on my FList expressed the desire to see it happen with Real People! :D

I have been supporting this idea since the specials were announced.

...If I say it enough times, it will happen, right?

And yes, that would be lovely to see.

Hey, if everyone thinking "Doctor" at the same time can make him get his powers back, then I don't see why not!

And yes, that would be lovely to see.

It would!

Isn't there a quote from Gareth David Lloyd where he describes Ianto as being Alfred to Jack's Batman? On [livejournal.com profile] torchwoodcoffee, I think? Ever since I first read that, I've agreed with it.

I think Tosh could be Barbara Gordon aka Oracle, with her mad computer skillz and general fighty awesomeness, Gwen could be Vicki Vale because of the way she never lets a mystery go, and Owen I'm struggling with...any suggestions?

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

That was way back. And I really don't want to think of Alfred and Bruce like that, thanks.

Well, in the thread itself, the two suggestions for Owen are Jason Todd (Red Hood), and Oliver Queen (Green Arrow).

Both of which sort of work.

From: [identity profile] ice-feather.livejournal.com

"And I really don't want to think of Alfred and Bruce like that, thanks"

Well, no. Not like that. But the general Master-Servant thing, yes.

I'm not familiar enough with Green Arrow but Owen as Jason Todd...possibly.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Yes, I know what I mean. But these days, when I think of Jack and Ianto's relationship, I don't really think of the Master-Servant thing first.

I'm not hugely familiar either, but the description in the thread, Considers himself a ladies man, grumpy towards batman and sarcastic fits what I've seen.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

What, the one on the post?

Pretty, ain't it.

I am attempting to diversify my fandoms covered in my icons.

From: [identity profile] raptor-au.livejournal.com

Heya! Just got back from Adelaide and would love to go to the Dark Knight (and thus actually meet you) - have you booked yet?

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Not as yet - I can try tomorrow morning. Or buy them online now, if you want to pay an extra dollar. Which session would you want to go to? I think the 8:30 is sold out, but the other two I listed don't seem to be full yet.

From: [identity profile] raptor-au.livejournal.com

*gasp* A whole dollar? I don't get paid until Friday but I think I can swing it :) . Whatever's easier for the majority regarding the sessions, I knock off at 3:30PM and I'm quite happy to bum around before the movie or have a nanna nap.

Where are you planning to go? I know where the ones at Melb Central are, and...that's about it. I've got the directional sense of a poodle in a washing machine.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

6:15 I think works best for me - means I don't get bored killing time after the shops close. It also seems to have plenty of seats still open (but is busy enough to be a fun crowd). And yes, I'm thinking Melbourne Central, because that's the easiest to get to for me.

You still qualify as student, or adult ticket?

From: [identity profile] raptor-au.livejournal.com

Student? Me? Pshaw! I've got the mind of a child but apparently that doesn't fly when you're trying to get movie tickets - one adult, full fare, thanks.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Well, that'd be that, then. You owe me $17. (Seats are H9 and H10

So, meet up a little past 6 on Wednesday outside the Melb Central cinema, and I'll pick up our tickets.

Which reminds me: How will we know who to look for?

From: [identity profile] raptor-au.livejournal.com

Good question. I have spent all this time searching my photobucket account for a photo that doesn't make me appear creepy, insane, or just plain unapproachable. So here's my Myspace profile pic:

Photobucket

...yyyyeahhhh. In all honesty, I'll be the dude in the leather jacket and most likely in the Punisher shirt (same as my usual icon). I'm quite happy to give you my mobile number so you can shoot me a text when you're close, I'd just prefer to give it to you by email.\

Which brings me to my query: what, exactly, do I call you? My name is pretty obvious (my email addy is on my info page!), but I don't know yours!

From: [identity profile] raptor-au.livejournal.com

Also? I really, really hope you realise that that photo only exists for the purpose of mocking emo kids. I would never ever go out in public like that.

Dressed as Mal Reynolds, sure. But I have standards.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Well, emos are highly mockable.

And Mal Reynolds is an entirely awesome person to dress up as.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

There's a picture of me here. It's a bit old, but the only main difference is my hair is a bit longer and has some blonde bits, so I should be recognisable.

But if we are going for theme t-shirts, I'll wear my purple one with "drakyndra" on it. I got it made ages ago, okay?

We should be fine without numbers (unless one of ends up late).

And I generally go by Melissa or Mel.

From: [identity profile] raptor-au.livejournal.com

I've spent a few bob on t-shirts from Minotaur - I'm not one to judge people on their choice of shirt!

Thanks for the photo. There's some more recent ones of moi on my LJ. If the worst comes to the worst and we miss each other completely I'll catch up with you somehow to pay back the cash.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

It shouldn't be that hard... I hope. Just get there around 6ish, and hang around keeping an eye out. I have to pick up my tickets from the Box Office, anyway.

...And your icon is making me LOL.

From: [identity profile] raptor-au.livejournal.com

Should be shiny. Do you want me to bring any nerdy stuff? I've got a 700MB copy of Journey's End if you still haven't seen it (I know you're up to date plot-wise, at least).

Isn't the icon brilliant? I'm doing a full reinstall of Internet Explorer just so I can once again enjoy the animated GIFfiness of it :)

Here's another!

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I do actually have a copy sitting on my external hard drive. I just haven't gotten around to watching yet. I watched Batman Begins instead.

You do have some lulzy icons.

From: [identity profile] raptor-au.livejournal.com

You as well! Especially loving the Badassology one atm. If there's no more Freema in DW in the near future I'm going to be quite cross. What was that show that she signed up for again?

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I loves mah Freema!

She's in Little Dorrit - a Dickens adaptation, and also Survivors, whichs a remake of a 70s post-apocalyptic drama thing. I suspect you'd be more into Survivors, so I'll link to it's wiki page. That's the one she's currently filming.

I do hope the rumours are true and she's in Torchwood, as well.

From: [identity profile] raptor-au.livejournal.com

I do hope so, though I could only stomach six episodes of Torchwood before wanting to eat my own head. I've heard S2 is better (and let's face it, I'll be watching it sooner or later just for Martha), but I'm just not ready to make that step yet.

As for the rumour, I think it's less rumour and more smack-us-in-the-face-with-a-brick foreshadowing. The TARDIS is looking kinda empty at the moment though, hint hint? I know it won't happen, but I'd prefer five minutes of Martha in DW to an entire episode in Torchwood is all I'm saying...

And...oooh. Possibility of post-apocalyptic hotness. Thanks for the linkage!

Do you have MSN or AIM to make these random comments even more random chat logs?

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

S2 is much better, but it's still Torchwood, and if it's not for you, it's not for you.

The rumour has been hanging around since way before the episode aired. If it's from people watching the filming or genuine contacts, nobody knows. Yet, anyway.

And I would love to see Martha in Who again. I wonder what Moffat will do, companion-wise.

I do indeed have both. Using the staggeringly original ID of "drakyndra" in both cases.
