It has come to my attention (via [livejournal.com profile] altheas's rather disturbing co-worker, and some truly appalling Sue-fics) that as of late, the name "Melissa" has been used in a lot of disturbing and unnatural ways. As a barer of this name, I am shocked and appalled.

So, in order to escape these horrific connotations, I have decided that I shall now renounce the name Melissa, and take on an entirely new name.

Sadly, I have no suitable back-up.

So, I put this out to you, my noble flist: Find me a new name.

I am open to all suggestions, though I would quite like it if you can supply a good reason why said suggestions are suitable for me to take as my new name.

The winner will be rewarded with...something. I am sure it will be glorious and magnificent.

So, go, my flist, and find me a name!

Hurrah! I figured Casanova would work, because that's what I used to properly convert myself *g* Ooh, I agree with you on GoF, someone got hooked on DT through GoF (and I didn't even have anything to do with it!)

Blackpool also worked, a friend of mine discovered DT through that.

Oh, well...apparently I didn't actually lose, I simply perceived myself to have lost and therefore I did.

The Schrodinger's Cat discussion lasted for an entire night out, it kept popping up (mostly because I wanted to win and kept thinking of arguments that would help me win).

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Well, I was hooked via those 20 seconds at the end of Doctor Who, personally. (He was all "New teeth..." and I was all, "Hel-lo...") But yeah, I had no input on people being hooked via GoF. That was mainly to do with them being a mad slasher, and that tongue thing.

Well, I don't know anyone who is actually watching Blackpool - or if they are, they aren't mentioning it. My Mum said she watched a bit, but it was only a little bit, and she was also washing the dishes. Or something.

And that is why one must always imagine the best possible result.

And I do love the whole Schrodinger's Cat thing, it's so interesting. Though it's better when you are thinking straight - one time I was half-asleep during a Maths tute, and ended up writing really insane poetry about Schrodinger's Cat.

From: [identity profile] breo-saighit.livejournal.com

Yeah, actually, I have to admit, that hooked me in as well. The 'new teeth...that's weird' comment especially, it just gets me. Especially because it's like proof that he really is the same Doctor, because he's noting all the things that are now different. Which I guess the Doctor kind of does each time, but...yeah. I know what I mean. Gah.

That tongue thing. Guh. I took to copying that after we saw the movie, which my friends didn't appreciate very much *g*

My mum watched a bit of Blackpool. Said she didn't get into it. I love it...Tennant, singing, bright sparkly lights...

Yeah, I'm really fascinated by the whole concept. It at first confused me (despite my two years of Theory of Knowledge, ack, pain, pain, bad!), but as I got progressively more tipsy it started to make more sense.

*snorts* Insane poetry on Schrodinger's Cat? Oh, I really hope you've kept that somewhere. *hint hint*

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I think I know what you mean too. If I was to, you know, completely change bodies every now and then, I'd get used to catagorising differeces and similarities and all.

I personally haven't tried the tongue thing. I doubt I could pull it off, actually.

Your mother obviously hasn't had enough exposure to the wonderfulness of Blackpool. I mean, it's just so damn cool...*hearts Blackpool DVD*

I get the theory, which may have something to do with my obsessive reading of Terry Pratchett, and may have something to do with the fact that my Year 10 physics teacher sucked mightily, and so I spent all the lessons reading books on quantum mechanics and other theoretical stuff I had borrowed out of the library.

And I do believe I can be of assistance...Click here for crack!poetry.

From: [identity profile] breo-saighit.livejournal.com

Yeah, trying to work out all the differences, get used to a new body, see if you've gotten better looking or...not. The sixth Doctor was so derisive of his former form...such a shame! I thought he was quite good, myself :D

I don't think anyone except David Tennant could truly pull it off (but then, he's the master!), and my friends were getting a tad narky at me by the end (it really wouldn't have looked that good, but I got far too much amusement out of it to stop).

Lol, that reminds me of when my friend and I, instead of doing our essays, would sit in the library and read the prophecies of Nostradamus and try and work out what he was talking about.

AHAHAHAHA! They're hilarious, you should write more!

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Yep, you got it in one. And the better-looking one is an interesting concept, really. You'd have to feel sorry for a Time Lord who went from good-looking to ugly, you know? And as for Five...I think he is an utter sweetheart, personally. Poor thing.

It is a skill of his, and of him alone. Though I can understand your friends' annoyance, I still reckon it would be pretty funny, mind.

Ah, procrastination. What a truly wonderful feeling. And Nostradamus was wonderfully bonkers, wasn't he?

I may end up writing more, I just have to get in the right frame of mind. That is to say, half asleep and slightly insane.

From: [identity profile] breo-saighit.livejournal.com

Alas, I used to feel sorry for the Doctor because he went from Peter Davison to Colin Baker, and in my mind, it was such a step down! I mean, how would you be...you're pretty good looking and happy, then you go and die, so you regenerate and become worse. Knowing you're stuck with it until you die again. (Yep, superficial moment there)

*gets hunted down by rabid Colin Baker fans*

Although I must confess...I am rather a big fan of Colin Baker myself. But Peter Davison...so lovely!

Of course, one wonders where exactly Mr Tennant picked that particular skill up from...

Nostradamus is one person I'd absolutely love to meet. If I ever got to time travel, of course. Which I will, when I meet the Doctor and we go and have adventures.

Excellent. I look forward to that!

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Seeing as I saw my very first glimpse of a Colin Baker episode just the other day, I can most certainly see what you mean. Really a step down for the poor Doctor.

In a shallow sense, I mean. On a Doctor-sense, I personally find it very difficult to dislike sny of the Doctors. I have my favourites, but I find it almost impossible to activeky dislike any of them.

And PD was such a sweetheart as the Doctor.

*mind gets lost in strange and disturbingly pleasing Tennant tongue thoughts*

Hey Nostradamus would be good to meet. Amongst others, of course. Personally, I'd love to find out the real deal behind Shakespeare's plays: Did he write them all, and if not, who did?

That, and seeing the future. I have a distinct longing to see the future.

Don't expect it any time soon.

From: [identity profile] breo-saighit.livejournal.com

Hehehe, yeah. It was worse when he actually regenerated...one moment you're looking at Peter Davison, the next...ahh! *sniffle*

And his personality changed so much, too. Colin Baker's Doctor is way more egotistical and brash, but he certainly grows on you (well, me, lol).

In a shallow sense, I mean. On a Doctor-sense, I personally find it very difficult to dislike sny of the Doctors. I have my favourites, but I find it almost impossible to activeky dislike any of them.

Wordity word! I was going to say something along those lines, but there we go. I heartily concur :D

*also starts thinking strange yet wonderful Tennant tongue thoughts* Very distracting while watching HP!

Yeah, lol, I'd love to meet Shakespeare as well. Finally work out the truth! And there a lots of other people I'd love to meet, but for the life of me I can't remember any of them now =(

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

You know, I really must get around to seeing that exact episode. Just to see how I react to that...

It's just... they are all the Doctor. And disliking a specific one is like... I don't think human experience actually has a good analogy here. But I don't get it at all. I can understand preferring a specific Doctor, but actually disliking one boggles me.

Oh, yes indeedy. I think it brought a few of my non-fan friends onboard the Tennant fangirling, I must say.

I know how it is. Though, on the most part, I would more want to see the future. I just so want to see how the world turns out, what it becomes...

From: [identity profile] breo-saighit.livejournal.com

I've got it on video somewhere...I ended up watching it twice. The first time I cringed and complained constantly to mum about it, then the second time I watched I thought, 'Heeey...this Colin Baker. He's not that bad!'

Yeah, I know what you mean. Because they're all the same person really, with a different appearance and a slightly different personality deep down. But the mannerisms, the things he says...they're so similar for each Doctor.

I'd absolutely love to see the future, to see where technology goes and how society develops and...*sigh* I'm so envious of all those who'll be able to see it!

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I really must get down to the Rowden White Libary sometime, just to see what episodes of Who they actually have lying around (preferably DVD)

Did you see that fabulous post on OG someone wrote about it, showing how the Tenth Doctor had aspects of all the previous Doctors in his performance? It was awesome. I want to go shove it in all those haters and denialists faces.

Damn future peoples, making us feel all backwards and old fashioned! *shakes fist*

From: [identity profile] breo-saighit.livejournal.com

I had a quick look there once, but I got dragged away before I could actually see any. =( "No, Bec, no! Lecture in ten minutes, no time!"

Awesome library, though. *loves that library*

No, I didn't! I very rarely go to OG, but I'm thinking I might have to because I seem to miss a lot of stuff that comes from there...you don't happen to have a link to that, do you? I'm asking the Queen of Links whether she has a link to something...your reputation is at stake, here!

Heehee. Stake. Buffy. Vampires.

Oh, God, I need sleep.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I rarely actually borrow stuff from there personally, but some of my many and varied clubs would borrow out videos for meetings. And they do have a rather good selection, because you can make requests, and they'll go buy a lot of it.

The OG is extremely...insane, generally, and wankier than an extremely wanky wanky thing. But you do get a few good discussions here and there.

And the link can be found here. (Oh, look, the OG has changed their layout. I don't like it)

And how can you need sleep, it's only about 9.30?

From: [identity profile] breo-saighit.livejournal.com

You can make requests :O I had no idea! Wow, the possibilities are endless...

Well, nearly, anyway.

Yeah, I got the impression that OG was an unbelievably wanky place, lol. But the DW fandom in general (actually, all fandoms in general) is extremely wanky, and trying to smush old Who and new Who fans into one big happy family at OG was always going to be a recipe for trouble.

But from a viewpoint...very amusing :D

Oooh, yay! Thank you!

Erm...I have a feeling I was hung-over that day, so going to sleep early was necessary for making the bad go away :(

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I don't know how many of the requests they take up, and they are currently closed for the summer, (Until the start of February, le sigh) but they are</> open to requests.

Even as fandoms go, DW is extraordinarily wanky. This might be because it is so old, because it has such a huge amount of canon to work from (even for TV purists, who don't count the books and all that), and because it is so widely varied when compared to most fandoms. More things to debate and argue over, and more time to come up with crazy theories (and evidence to support said theories)

And yet, even by DW standards, OG is wanky. Because you have this huge and diverse fandom, and this one board for them to speak out on. No wonder there is wank.

But it is very entertaining.

I am the Queen of Links, after all. Which reminds me, I need to write up my next list...
