And... I think I loved it. Not nearly so much as School Reunion, which was awesome, but I really did like it a lot.
More later.
Also, it seems it has caused the fandom to go into meltdown - which just makes me like it even more.
(I have come to the conclusion that I am very contrary. I like characters that get a lot of bashing - Mickey, Jackie, even Adam to an extent. I defend Rose amongst old-schoolers, but when I come across n00bs fangirling her, I can't stand her. I am rather fond of Six's coat. And an episode that gets the fandom into uber-wank automatically gets put up a few notches.
I have no idea what this is saying about me, really.)
Oh, I'm going to need some new icons...

On the one hand, it was brilliant (scary, funny and sad at the very same time), and I loved it.
On the other hand, however, I'm still not sure whether to regard the Doctor as wholly in character when he thinks he might be stuck on Earth for the next 3000 years. He could have shown a bit of concern for two companions stuck on that spaceship. And I'm not saying this as a Doctor/Rose shipper, just as someone who thought that the Doctor always cares.
Of course, he might have found another way to get back to them, but the episode itself didn't say so...
But yeah, it seems to be pretty much the maximum credible accident for some parts of fandom, and that's rather ridiculous.

The thing is, even if he didn't say he had a a way back, the fact that I can think of half a dozen options off the top of my head shows it isn't the hardest thing to handwave. And I think his "Oh, shit!" face when he looked back at the broken mirror was him realising just what he had done.

The only really negative reactions I've seen to it personally were on the TWoP boards.... though it's mixed with people filled with squee.
Are you going to be putting this stuff on F_W?

This has nothing to do whatsoever with the fact that back when I did ballet, my favourite ever costume was in that exact styleBut I was shocked at how overt the hate was at TWOP. I can understand the few at the OG that are like that, because you get a lot of asexualists, and new series haters, but TWOP is overwhelmingly positive. Perhaps it is all the extreme Rose!love they have at that forum. (Note: Rose = not my fave character. But I liked her a lot more this week than the past few)

I agree with the 'Act now, think later'-tendency Ten has. Him going down because of that would be awesome to behold.
OT: may I friend you?

And I think it works very well, as I mention above: the God-complex and then a fall, actions and consequences. I have a theory about how the season is going, and this ep feeds into it very well character-wise, if not so much plot-wise.
Sure, friend away.
