You know, for some reason I remember hearing that Uni results weren't actually due for my course until tomorrow. And yet when I randomly went and checked them just then, they had already been updated. So good for me, I suppose.

But anyway, results for my whole two subjects this semester:
Social Science Research Methods: H2A (No surprise there)
Introduction to Life, the Universe and Everything Earth and the Universe: H1

...I don't think I deserved that second one, given how little I studied for it.

But yes, that does mean I have officially passed my degree, and thus should be up for graduation soon.

Unfortunately, I have discovered that the emails which give the official offers - and which we use to organise graduation dates - will be sent the day after I head overseas. Which means I'll have to sort things out over there.

That said, if I don't want to wait until December for the ceremony (which I don't), it's most likely going to be on either the 21st or 28th of August, looking at their provisional schedule.
So, semester results are out! Well, sort of - my Radical Fiction marks apparently don't get released until Monday because of that staff strike thing. Eh, whatever.

(Yes, they came out yesterday. I was going to post about it last night, but after I had to wait a freaking half hour for a tram from the CBD on a Friday night, I sort of gave up in the face of being grumpy and late).

But anyway, I did decently enough on the stuff I did get marks for. H2B for Dangerous Earth - which is rather good, given how much effort I actually put into that subject (Hint: Not very much), and for my internship, a H2A. I was rather pleased about that.

And back on to fandom, which I am sure is much more interesting.

- Over at Fandom_Wank, we have infamous wanker Victoria Bitter + Harry Potter fandom = epic shenanigans. Particularly given what fic it turns out VB was responsible for, and the highly amusing "true stories" they have been telling.

- So, the new Geass thing seems to be a prequel manga? Yeah, I'm down with that, though I may need time to adjust to the different art style.

- ...I'm amused that there is already fanart of said manga. (Personally, I like this one, even if it does give me the urge to say "Cheer up, Emo Renya, your life can't possibly suck as much as poor Suzaku's did!)

- FMA fandom is doing a truly glorious job of flipping out - not that I blame them in the slightest, since I was also one of the flippees. Hands up who else thinks we may reach the end of FMA manga in 2010?

- I really need to get around to reorganising my bookshelves so I have enough room for my new manga stuffs. And new books. Space is kinda low currently...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM!

Yeah, I'll probably ring you at some point tonight.

Yes, my Mum reads my LJ. Welcome to the weirdness that is my life.

On the subject of weirdness, does anyone know precisely why there were a bunch of people dressed as ancient Romans hanging out at the tram stop on the corner of Swanston and Collins last night? Because it certainly added an unexpected note or surrealism to my day.

In other news, semester results are out. I passed everything, so yay, but could have gotten better marks so... less yay. Oh well, I'll live.

Fannish-wise, I think I shall stick with the flailing over the epicness of FMA right now. SCANLATIONS HURRY UP! Because it's probably more fun than joining all the people flailing over the tragic rage of Torchwood. Or the LOL WOT TROLLING flailing from the Haruhi fans. Seriously, guys...
Firstly: O HAI NEW PEOPLES FROM THE [livejournal.com profile] princesstutu FRIENDING MEME! NEW PEOPLE, THIS IS MY LJ (AND FLIST). FLIST, NEW PEOPLES. NOW PLAY, NICE, Y'HEAR?

...Yeah, I may have a mild case of inexplicable hyperness. Sorry about that.

Secondly: Uni results were out today.

I know this because I got woken up by a phone call from my mum asking what they were. Plus I also had a number of emails and text messages from her asking while I was asleep (Look, I was reading my book until late - well, early - and thus I needed that sleep). Mother >:(

Anyhow, I ended up with H2Bs for everything except Quantitative Social Methods, which I got a H2A for (which is somewhat surprisingly given how horrendously boring I found that damn class, but that's life for you). Only one mark off getting a H2A in Creative Writing, though, so huzzah for tl;dr on metafiction.

Thirdly: In somewhat more fun news, chapter 90 of FullMetal Alchemist is up.

'Course, though I say more fun, it seems like Arakawa has been getting her evil mindgames on, because there's some serious Nightmare Fuel going on. Plus a cliffhanger of OH SHIT-ness, and at least one plot point that has me a-feared for what it'll lead to.
Semester results out today!

My final results for my subjects in the semester just gone were:
Writing Through Character = H3
Power, Ideology and Inequality = H2A
Research Methods 3 = H2B
Personal and Social Development 3 = H2B

I am grumpy about the writing mark - I should have gotten something higher than a H3, dammit! - but otherwise quite pleased. Especially with the Research Methods mark, given that was the exam that worried me most. 95 percent of the total mark, too.

Must have gone well with guessing what letters to mark. ;)

I shall have to come up with a reward for myself over the weekend.

In other news, Doctor Who made Fandom Wank again. And not about any actual finale spoilers, shock horror. Just someone getting called on calling their photoshoppery "art" and then throwing a tantrum.

You're letting me down, fandom!
Say, does anyone recall me mentioning way, way back, about how I had decided to do my end of semester assignment for Anthropology on the Anonymous Scientology protests.

Or, if you were at [livejournal.com profile] lizbee's party and I chatted to you, I may have mentioned I had an assignment I needed to write.

Well, I got said paper back today.

And I got a H1 for it. Even after losing 3% for handing it in a day late.

Go me! *\o/*

...That said, one of the comments from my marker was that it was very original and interesting. Which I suppose it would be after reading through 100 essays on ANZAC Day ceremonies.

Not sure how the subject mark works out, what with weightings and percentages. I've gotten at least a H2A overall, though.

Full semester marks out on Friday. Ack.

In vaguely fandom related news, I have spent several hours today listening to [livejournal.com profile] fa11ing_away cackle as she caught up on Doctor Who. And I mean cackle. Laugh like the Joker, that girl.

We are now in the strange position of [livejournal.com profile] fa11ing_away being ahead of me in Doctor Who watching. Wonders never cease.

And your random vaguely meta thought of the day, brought to you by the TV Tropes Wiki (Shut up, it's addictive), on the nature of New Who companions:

On the Three Faces of Eve page, one of the models mentioned for female characters is the Final Fantasy variation, in which females are inevitably either Innocent Princesses, Tough but Sexy, or Perky Jailbait.

It also mentions that, of all things, the three Doctor Who companions of the new series fit this model. And though Donna is a bit off (Definitely not jailbait. And Perky is debatable), Martha and Rose fit the models (even the more detailed ones at the link) dead on.

...At least it's preferable to Maiden, Mother and Whore. Interesting to think on, anyway.
Exam results are out today, and since I was up and about at this time for some unknown reason, I decided to check mine out.

And, um, you know that subject I was 100 percent convinced I had failed? Well, uh, I didn't. Fail it, that is - I managed to pass.

How, of course is currently bewildering me, given I didn't complete one of the hurdle requirements, but I ain't arguing with a pass for it, even if it's only just.

As for my other subjects, Cognitive Psych 2 I passed with a H3, Sociology of Youth I got a H2B for (and was one mark off a H2A), and for Cyberspace I got a H1.

So, huzzah for that last one (though I have already gotten some comments about how all my time online is paying off.

So, that'd be that until next year.
So, Uni results were out today.

I ended up with teh following results:
Developmental Psych: H2A
Media, Politics and Society: H2A
CCM: H2B
Behaviour Neuro: Pass

Oh, and I got back my final paper from CCM - That one I wrote on fandom. Got a H1 for it, too, which I was terribly pleased by. If nothing else, it's a bit of evidence for the write what you like/know thing.

Otherwise, I find it telling that the two subjects I did less good on were ones that had one assignment that I was incredibly lazy on working on. (CCM: That blog. I kept mentally coming up with entries, and forgetting to actually post them. Neuro: The second, non-compulsory assignment, which was due the same day as MPS, and just after my Dev Psych exam. So it got put on lowest priority)

Also: Yet more evidence that I suck at the medical type stuff. Honestly, can't I just stick with the personality/social aspects of psychology. They interest me more.

Apart from that, today I bought boots. Two pairs, both with pointy toes and wonderfully evil heels. One pair is red, and the other is black with blue (and bling).

I do love winter sales.

ETA: Also, finally went and reserved a copy of Harry Potter. Which is only two weeks away now. That's scary.
