drakyndra: The Music Meister demands you sing! (Not Just A Pretty Face)

I seem to get into arguments online about the most bizarre things. Srsly.

Anyway, earlier I was chatting with Rob. About insanely random stuff, mostly, like my exam results and how Writing is of the Dark Side, and unrequieted doughnut love. Though we did get onto Doctor Who eventually, mainly talking about Doomsday. His opinions of the Rose-arc there were surprisingly similar to some sentiments I had expressed, especially considering he was the one who brought it up, which made me happy.

Though he's got a bit of jetlag, poor guy.

Out in the Real World, we had a CHAS meeting today. Instead of Pancake Parlour, this time was in Chinatown. Which was, erm, cheap. (Well, it wasn't bad, but the soy sauce tasted funny, which put me off my rice). It was mostly about arranging events for this semester and all that. And dealing with ye old student union stuffs.

So, it ended up being me, [livejournal.com profile] fa11ing_away, [livejournal.com profile] tinyteddyqueen, [livejournal.com profile] becker_ and Callum, who has no LJ and therefore does not exist.

Far too much time was spent chatting about [livejournal.com profile] becker_'s lost noodle. No, you really don't want to know.

Of course after the meeting, we ended up wandering around Chinatown, partaking in it's delights somewhat. Namely, Bubble Tea, and Pocky.

Though I have to say, there are very few things in life quite so entertaining as browsing in a Chinese Supermarket.

We also ended up in JB Hi-Fi. I wanted to buy a movie DVD, since I hadn't gotten one in ages, but they didn't have either Mirrormask or Dark City to my woe. I ended up saying to hell with it, and bought some classic Doctor Who. Namely, City of Death. Because A) I am a Douglas Adams fangirl, B) I've heard very good things about it, and C) Since my flist was so "Yay, Romana!" I want to see what all the fuss is about.

So, when I get some free time, expect me to be commenting on that.

And, my timetable appears worked out. It's not the best - I have to days finishing after 7pm, and my 9am lectures are followed by gaps until afternoon classed, but I have Friday off, and no more than 4 contact hours a day. *sigh*

Rob went and sent me an email wishing me (belated) good luck for my Linguistics Exam. Aww.

And I am now working on the next Links List. I am hoping I should be able to get it up before The Satan Pit, if only because I am certain that's going to promote more fic, which will mean more things for me to add.

In less pleasant news, I made my soup too hot, and I think I burnt the roof of my mouth. Owies.

... I've been spamming LJ a bit in the last week or so, haven't I?
Good Lord, I seem to have a social life at the moment. That's kind of scary.

Anyway, Tuesday evening meant another CHAS meeting at The Pancake Parlor. (Mmm, pancakes...), which was as entertainingly random as ever, especially when we discovered plans for next semester, and the astounding fact that we actually have money.

And then, afterwards, we went to the movies. To see The Da Vinci Code.

I am sure a few of you are aware of my opinion of Dan Brown's books. So I wasn't expecting much from the movie. To be brief, I will just say that it was a lot better than the book - not that that is actually hard. I always said it read like a movie novelisation, and so the movie fit the story better. No painful prose or blocks of exposition that just piss me off, or the oh-so-Sueified personal descriptions.

So, it was okay. Watchable, but not particularly good. The Pirates of the Caribbean trailer was awesome, though.

Then, last night, [livejournal.com profile] fa11ing_away had gone and arranged for a late Birthday dinner thing, so yay her! So [livejournal.com profile] fa11ing_away, [livejournal.com profile] punk_rock_nerd, [livejournal.com profile] altheas, [livejournal.com profile] lena_supercat, [livejournal.com profile] de_chel, [livejournal.com profile] knave_scurvy, [livejournal.com profile] bellmeister, [livejournal.com profile] ranorith and me went out and Mexican. Which is quite yummy and fun and all. Especially the part where I had rather too many margaritas.

And then we toddled up to The Croft Institute again (hurrah for weeknights and no entry charge!), which now official qualifies as AwesomeTM. Which was also yay fun. And Pink Grapefruit and Gin = yummers.

You know what? This social life thing, it is actually rather appealing. I can see why people go for it.

Also, My fandom is completely bonkers.

And The Cornfield and The HMS STFU have imploded somewhat, due to [livejournal.com profile] vanceone being a misogynistic wanker. So naturally, when I am not being outraged, I discuss Doctor Who with a cool mouse.

Oh, and Rob Shearman remains awesome.
So, Rob Shearman has read my Doctor Who smut. *facepalm*

So, I was chatting with Rob Shearman on AIM today. *pauses for mild flailage*

It was...very interesting. And great fun. We talked about music and the iPod Plan Of World DominanceTM. And I tried to talk him into watching Firefly.

He wins lots of points for calling Anne Rice bonkers. And these comments, which cracked me up:

Shearrob: I might have to buy another. Just so Ipod #1 has a friend.
drakyndra: Have a little iPod family
Shearrob: Yeah. I'd like that. Then they can breed.
drakyndra: That's how iPod nanos are created, you know
Shearrob: Yes... but one thing puzzles me. Where does the little Nano come out of?
drakyndra: ...
Shearrob: Exactly! *No-one knows.*

And there was Doctor Who talk liek whoa. We plotted to bring back Adam, and discussed the differences between this season and the last, and between the the Ninth and Tenth Doctors, and between Eccleston and Tennant and Eccleston themselves (He's met them. He's worked with them. That just makes me flail that little bit more), and opinions on various episodes and why we did or didn't like them, and why having the regeneration after just one season was a very clever move.

Also, I got some little hints that have hyped me up so much for later in the season. Not really spoilers, because they don't actually tell you anything, but I'll cut them, anyway.

Hints that made me flail like a flaily flailing thing. *flails* )

But yeah, chatting with Rob Shearman. *flails some more*
