This was supposed to be a photopost and run down of Prosh Week and Scav Hunt, which was what has occupied me for the last few days.
However, last night my laptop went and died. Again. It's now out being tested for things, and I'm at a net cafe.
So, in lieu of interesting postings from me, I'll make a request of my flist: I've noticed that over the last few weeks, I've had quite a few people I don't know friend me. Some I've only chatted with briefly, some not at all.
So introduce yourselves, n00bs! Tell me who you are, about yourselves, why you friended me. And once my computer's back, I might chat with you a little more.

I'd love to be a writer whenever it is that I grow up. Failing that being a librarian sounds fun. Or a speechwriter for a decent politican (although I don't know that I'll ever find one I'm pretty passionately dorky about politics so it is a nice dream). I worship Joss Wheddon/Aaron Sorkin/Terry Pratchett for their awesome writing skills, have a crush on both David Tennant and Sophia Myles and have what some think is a slightly annoying tendancy to see both sides of an argument fairly.
I friended you because I really enjoy reading your posts (and because if I can't have a science fiction club at UTAS I can bloody well hear about one in Melbourne) and love your Doctor Who posts because you always manage to say really interesting things that make me think about the episode.

But it's nice to hear your reasons for friending me.

Dutch, female, in my twenties, I hate bad fanfic. In RL I'm the only one who's into any fandom, apart from Mel, and he only reads what I link him to. Better for his sanity. ;) The screaming fits I have sometimes do tend to make my parents go 'Are you all right over there?' Ç'est la vie.

Who's Mel?

So belated introduction. I'm Caff (answers to any bastardisation of Catharine you care to chose though), I turned 20 back in May, and I live in Birmingham, England.
I'm a second year undergrad Law student at Birmingham Uni, utterly loving it, although I was nearly an English-Drama undergrad. I live in a happy little house with other students, and often in my own little world entirely.
I like an awful lot of TV shows, despite not watching them that often, and absolutely love books. I mainly go in for rock music, but I listen to anything and everything. I like going out to clubs and dancing.
I'm eclectic when it comes to fandoms and pairings. I'm not overly picky when it comes to pairings all in all, I just like the fic to be well written. My main pairings lately are Remus/Tonks (HP), Doctor/Rose (9th mostly, DW), Veronica/Logan (VM), and lots of others that are out of the attention span for now. Oh, and of course TICKYBOX/Doctor/Door. That one owns the lot.

And TICKYBOX/Doctor/Door for the win!

Now wonder Doctor Who killed Snarry. It couldn't cope with the stupid smushed name.

I've been in fandom longer than some fans have been alive. (I remember when getting anything other than 4th Doctor in the U.S. was still an exciting novelty.) Been lurking around LJ for a while, but only recently started actively participating. Still mostly a lurker at heart.
I friended you because you write entertaining posts, and because reading your LJ is way less time-consuming and easier on my blood pressure than keeping up on all the DW wankage on my own would be. ;-)
