I wonder, just how much of the crazy in the Doctor Who fandom would be avoided if people would actually come to terms with the fact that Rose isn't the exception, she's just the first example of the new rule?
I think we're in for a wild ride of freaked out fannish reactions. I got a bit thrown meself when I saw a BBC site page with "starring David Tennant and Freema Agyeman" at the top. Dude. (They seem to be phasing that in slowly, cos last I saw it was still Billie on a lot of the pages.)
It's a bit pretentious if you ask me, as if they're fearing the Rose fans more than the Doctor fans... didn't they switch all the pictures to David quite quickly or do I remember that wrong?
I can't remember at all. I think they're a bit screwed anyway because technically the current companion is Donna The Bride and no one really cares about her.
I think that's the main issue - they need to get the attention on Freema, because she's the next proper companion, but they can't take too much away from the Christmas special, which she isn't in.
