Dear Lord, I hate Daylight Savings. First it managed to completely and utterly bewilder me the other night (But why is 2am gone?), but now, when I have woken up in order to "obtain" the last Torchwood ep, it means that my old normal time is no longer suitable.

Bastard clocks. And I can no longer get back to sleep. Thus, I shall sit up and make exceedingly random posts until I can find a downloadable copy.

Henceforth:

- If one has a poster above the head of their bed, please ensure that it is well attached to the wall. Waking up to a poster on your face is creepy as all fuck.

- Tinhats. In the Doctor Who fandom. Why, I ask you, why? *is currently refraining on commenting on the icon of "Bitch, please"-ness

- For some suitably wanky entertainment, the HP fandom never fails to provide. Thus, we have this and this to check out.

- Rec up. Two to go. If the effing download takes too long, I might do one during the wait, even.

- [livejournal.com profile] torchwoodcoffee has over 120 members. Egads.

The RPF for Billie and David was raising all my red flags, but there's nothing in the rules against it, so I'm just bleeping over. But no, there has to be someone who can't tell the difference between friendship and sex. (And probably has such a hate on for Sophia that they'd do anything to break them up, not that the whole Reinette bashing hasn't left a bad taste in my mouth.)

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I can live with the fic - they seem to at least accept it's fiction, and I don't read it. It's the people claiming "they get on so well, they must be a couple" that annoys me. That and the Sophia bashing.

Though I do feel rather sorry for Billie's boyfriend. He seems to get forgotten because he doesn't do the social stuff.

From: [identity profile] neadods.livejournal.com

RPF bugs me on a variety of levels, but since there's nothing against it in the rules, I'm biting my tongue. It's not my place to force the comms to my views.

But "they get on so well, they must be a couple" - that REALLY rings my bells. I went through that shit back in Beast fandom; everyone thinking that it was just sooooooo romantic for Linda and Ron because they were Truly In Love. And I'm like, "Not so romantic for his wife, her husband, or anyone's children, ya think?"

Different show, same shit. I don't feel sorry for Billie's boyfriend; keeping a low profile has kept him off cafepress. (There are anti-Reinette T-shirts now.) It's smart to not be dragged through the papers and the more rabid/less of a grip elements of fandom.

I'm waiting for the RPS to start up. (Although... from what I hear about John Barrowman, it might not be fiction...)

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I have no problems with RPF, so long as the writers accept that it is entirely fictional. I just don't really read it.

And, yeah, the "getting on well = couple" thing shits me off, possibly because my personal experience is that being a couple just makes frienships get horribly awkward.

The anti-Reinette shirts are courtesy of someone at TWoP, if I recall correctly. Idiots. And, yeah, it might be better for his sake. But I think I'll be amused when Billie shows up to a non-Who premiere with him, and the tinhats freak.

Isn't Barrowman supposed to be marrying his partner sometime soon. I read that somewhere.

He got written out in the first chapter. In the fic, he forces her to quit Doctor Who:

He rolled his eyes as he heard her voice; not in the mood. "I'm moving out" he replied hastily. "It's not working Bill, you know that; oh just go off and shag David for Christ's sake!" he spat out; clearly upset. Everything had gone wrong since David. He saw less and less of her as she met the cast for drinks and outings. That's why he was making her quit. He gave her a choice: him or Doctor Who. Although he knew the main question would be him or David. He saw the little looks they gave each other, smiling, laughing. There had to be something going on.

OH NOES THEY GET ON WELL, THEY MUST BE IN LOVE!

Yeah, demonising the man is kind of what I had figured they'd do

As someone who once woke up with Harrison Ford lying on top of him, I wholeheartedly agree...

Why oh why couldn't it have been the Jessica Alba poster right next to the Indiana Jones poster?

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

;)

Mine was my Emily the Strange poster. The other one at my bed head was a Serenity movie one.

I once had my U2 poster land on my face. Bono-as-the-Fly is not a good thing to wake up to.

Ah, tinhats. No fandom is complete without them. Or something. Anyway, I know I should probably be offended by them, but they're just so stupid that I can't work up the outrage. I do feel bad for poor Sophia and whats-his-name though.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

Like you, I find them too pathetic to be angry about. Aside from the general annoyance I get from stupidity, that is. I just find it a bit depressing that it's showing up in this fandom.

From: [personal profile] fannishnonsense

Oh yeah, it's certainly depressing. But then, there are several segments of this fandom that I find depressing, so that's nothing new. :(

Yay! Tinhats! And it would have to be in bloody [Unknown site tag]. It would have to be a couple of hours before that horrendous chemistry exam. Yep, I sat there and lamented it for half an hour. That and the RP fic that's popping up. Which is weird, because sometimes I quite love RPF. The latest just don't feel like the author knows it's fiction. And it's not particularly good writing either. There've even been a few complaints so I'm contemplating banning RPF and just directing it over to the RPF comm someone just made. But then we wouldn't get the scattering of good ones.

As for the tinhats. I can't delete it without banning speculation on David Tennant's personal life. And then we wouldn't get important conversations about his pants and whether he likes tea or coffee.

I keep myself happy with just deleting all the bad spelling. You'd be surprised at how much I've quietly removed.

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

They are in the Billie comm, too. I don't know enough about that comm to comment on whether that is a regular occurance or not.

The latest just don't feel like the author knows it's fiction.

Yes, that's exactly it. It's the carry over of the Doctor/Rose shipping into RL. Like the bloody Dan/Emma shippers in HP. Complete with Sophia-bashing instead of Reinette bashing. That's your issue rather than mine, though. Unless the Ianto comm spits up Gareth David-Lloyd RPF

I can understand why the speculation must be kept - it's logical. If you want the fact stuff, you have to put up with the occasional bugfuck insane speculation.

Go you and your l33t mod skillz!

From: [identity profile] doona-rose.livejournal.com

Thank god it's not just me who reads it and thinks: This is Wrong. I honestly loved the few RPF fics on [livejournal.com profile] lifeonmartha that I read because they were obviously completely fictional and the authors knew it and were writing, always, from a slightly cracked angel. And then I skimmed this one and it just gets worse and worse and worse. The latest review is just obvious Sophia hate and that's possibly the most annoying thing. Can't delete it because it's not on the page. I suppose it's grounds to delete because it's linking to real person hate. Can I do that?

The tinhat thread is dying down. Hope no one resurrects it and then we can just pretend it never happens.

I've finally gone and joined [livejournal.com profile] torchwoodcoffe. I think the fact that seing the Monosanto Catalysis on my exam made me instantly think of Ianto is reason enough. At least the people over there seem sane.

RPF just generally terrifies me a little. I keep wanting to take [livejournal.com profile] tennant_love off my flist because of the crazy, but something useful pops up once in a while so I feel I cannot.

Supposedly I shall finish.. obtaining the Torchwood ep in seven minutes. *sits and waits*

From: [identity profile] drakyndra.livejournal.com

I generally just skim past it, but someone mentioned something about the last chapter. And I don't think fandom has disturbed me this much in a long, long time.

Mine is only one third done. Stupid thing, speed up!

From: [identity profile] romanticizing.livejournal.com

OK, I had to see what you meant, and.. wow. That is disturbing. It's really scary because this person seems to be out of touch with reality.

Mine was supposed to be done five minutes ago but it's slowed to 0.2 kb/s. Wonderful!

Does your Daylight Saving Time work the same as ours? I am rather annoyed right now that it gets dark around 5 pm.
