I wonder, just how much of the crazy in the Doctor Who fandom would be avoided if people would actually come to terms with the fact that Rose isn't the exception, she's just the first example of the new rule?

Oh yeah. I had a whole argument with someone a while back who kept saying that Martha would never be as "important" as Rose was. I was like do you have any idea how this show works at all? Sheesh.

I think it's kind of vital that the most important companion be the current one.* Just like how the most important Doctor is the current incumbent.

Oh yeah. I mean, if the most important character this show has ever seen- and will ever see- is gone why should anyone watch it? Come to think of it, maybe we can get the crazy ones to stop watching if we use this argument on them.
